This is the first time I have ever read that you can eat what you want….just watch the calories. At 49 I decided to exercise more and watch ,y caloric intake (all the while my 29 year old fitness obsessed co-worker told me I would never lose weight because I was #1 older. #2 because I am older my metabolism was slow and #3 decreasing my calories would only slow my metabolism more. what a load of BS! I am happy to report that I am 25 pounds thinner in a 6 month period AND the most fit I have been my entire life. 10 more pounds and I am at my goal. I love your site.

Well a lot of diets are businesses that try to emotionally manipulate consumers or are based around a supplement that costs $50-100 a month. Not all diets have the right intention. A lot are in it just to make money.

It’s very easy these days to become diet and fitness OCD with the amount of stuff floating on the internet!

Whilst I agree with most of what you have said in this article, I do believe diets have the right intention at heart. Whilst a lot of people need or want to lose weight, sure you need to create a calorie deficit, but at the same time food is more than just a means to lose weight.

Foods are not created equal, and some will make your mind and body feel better than others, whilst others although tasty will make you feel terrible in the long run.

I think sacrificing some foods can be a good thing, sometimes you realize you can actually do without some things and you end up feeling better for it.

I think a good idea is to minimize some foods or eliminate completely, and then skew your diet to what makes you feel the best. You might take on the principles of a paleo diet, but also add in a small amount of carbs should you need it.

I am finally starting to lose weight ! And I can eat cake again woohoo! Thank you!

Think I’ll read up on what Barban has to say in addition to the AGR.

Thanks for the heads up on some good sources.
