4 Reasons Why Becoming A Vegetarian Is A Fucking Stupid Idea

October 5, 2014 | 1674 Comments

Note: This post is not meant to target those who are vegetarians for religious reasons or those who are vegetarians because they have some chronic disease that doesn’t allow them to eat meat. Instead, I’m targeting every single idiot out there who is a vegetarian for reasons like animal cruelty and health benefits.

Edit 9/10/14: Alright time to clear some air here. I started FitMole back in June 2011 and wrote this article in Aug 2011. Back when I started the blog I was trying to discover the best way to generate more traffic. So I thought to myself, “what’s the best way to get people talking?” So I came up with this article and the slightly edgy, and some might even call immature headline. And yes, I know the article can be seen as a bit offensive and ignorant. I still stand by my claims 100% that going vegetarian isn’t healthier than eating meat, but I do take full responsibility for some of the slightly ignorant comments I’ve made about animal cruelty. Other than that, can the person who keeps sending me death threat emails stop now 🙂

First off I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I normally don’t swear in the post title, but I just have to emphasize how stupid it is to become a vegetarian. It’s stupid, ridiculous, unnecessary, stupid, and did I mention it’s FUCKING stupid.

I have a couple of friends and family members that are vegetarians, and don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them. I just can’t understand why they decided to follow this lifestyle.

When I ask them why they decided to become a vegetarian, they give me reasons like “Oh, it makes me feel good,” “Because meat is bad for your health,” or “I don’t want to harm animals.” Whenever I hear these reasons, I just put on my best “nod and pretend to agree with you” face.

So why is becoming a vegetarian stupid? Lets take a look:

1) You aren’t saving the lives of animals

I get it. You don’t like it when the heads of baby cows and pigs are chopped off, but do you really think eating that tofu burger is saving lives.

Fruits, vegetables, and grains are a staple among vegetarian diets, but did you know that millions of animals die just so you can enjoy that piece of bread? Eating foods like grains means destroying ecosystems and all of its inhabitants. It means killing all the little animals, birds, bugs, and microorganisms that live among the fields.

Do you know how many little animals and microorganisms die when farmers use machines to plow through wheat fields? The answer is a lot more than 1 cow.

As cheesy as it sounds, everything in life requires sacrifice. Animals are killed to get meat and ecosystems are destroyed to get grains. So the next time I’m eating a steak, don’t you dare judge me for killing a cow.

2) There is absolutely zero scientific proof showing that going vegetarian is healthy

When I want to believe something, I need proof. I need definite scientific proof.

And no, proof doesn’t mean reading a quote in Shape or MensHealth magazine. In order to convince me about anything I need to see a scientific study that shows causation not correlation.

For example, eating less food will make you loss weight.  This is a stone cold fact that will remain true no matter what.

However, there is absolutely ZERO proof showing that going vegetarian will decrease your risk of heart disease, cancer, or whatever nasty stuff you can think of.

The only thing we have are thousands of studies showing a correlation between an increased risk of disease and an increase in meat consumption. We have studies that conclude that eating meat “may increase” your risk of heart disease, but this doesn’t mean crap. It’s inconclusive and doesn’t prove anything. Saying that your risk of heart disease “may increase” from eating red meat is like saying you “may” be able to breath fire if you eat enough jalapenos.

And yes, before you get all crazy on me, I have read the China Study a.k.a the vegetarian’s wet dream. For those who don’t know, the China Study was a big study conducted by Dr. Campbell who basically concluded that meat is killer.

While the China Study garnered a ton of media attention a couple years ago, it is also an incredibly flawed study despite it’s massive scale. But talking about all the flaws in the China Study is beyond the scope of this article, so let me turn you over to a great article written by Denise Minger of Raw Food SOS. She did an amazing job in analyzing the China Study and basically debunked every single aspect of it.

People need to stop believing the mainstream media, and need to start looking at the actual research and facts.

3) You don’t get to eat meat

I know this is a bit obvious, but being a vegetarian means that you don’t get to eat meat. EVER. That means no steak, bacon, horse, or BBQ ribs. The closest thing you’ll ever get to meat is some glued together crap made of wheat and soy.

And please, don’t tell me that your veggie burger tastes better than my double bacon cheeseburger, okay? Don’t tell me “Oh, but it tastes just like the real thing.” No it doesn’t, you rationalizing crazy person. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, a piece of tofu will never taste as good as a greasy piece of beef.

So if vegetarians are so concerned about their health, then why do they opt for highly processed foods likes breads and cereals that are not found in nature as opposed to real animal meat which has been around since…. forever. It makes no freakin sense.

4) Vegetarians are actually eating animals without knowing it!

This past summer, I took a Biology 101 class at a community college to fulfill some general education requirements for my degree. While the class was a complete waste of my time and I pretty much bull-shitted my way through it, I did learn something quite interesting.

I learned about the food web, which is basically description of “who eats who” in the environment.

It goes something like this:

fox eats rabbit => fox poops into the soil => the living soil then absorbs the poop(which includes the rabbit) => fruit and vegetable plants absorb that exact same soil to grow => humans eat those same fruits and vegetables

This process happens EVERYWHERE in nature.

So even if you’re a vegetarian, you’re technically eating dead animals, albeit in a more indirect liquid form. But last time I checked, vegetarians were all about saving lives no matter what.

Don’t be a vegetarian

Despite everything you’ve heard, vegetarians are NOT the health conscious animal saving saints that they’re made out to be.

Instead, vegetarians:

  • Support the destruction of ecosystems to obtain their food
  • Kill millions of small animals, bugs, and microorganisms
  • Aren’t saving their health since there’s absolutely zero scientific proof showing that meat is bad for you
  • Are actually eating meat without knowing it
  • Are simply misinformed about every aspect of the vegetarian lifestyle

So if you’re a vegetarian, then hopefully I’ve done my job to piss you off beyond belief, and if I converted you, then that’s cool too.

Once again, the only reason why you should be a vegetarian is for religious reasons or because you have a some chronic disease that doesn’t allow you to eat meat. But even if you’re a vegetarian for religious reasons, you might want to start questioning the logic behind your beliefs, just saying.

Alright guys, be sure to share this article with every single vegetarian you know, and to close out this article I have 3 parting words:

FUCK YOU PETA

  1. Ok. This was pretty awesome. your points were pretty amazing. I’ve considered going vegetarian, and even vegan. But then I figured “if I don’t eat meat, that’s not stopping the animals from dying. And their body is just going to waste, and they would’ve died with no purpose.” And we’re killing them in a natural way. We’re using them as helpful resources through out our lives; food, leather, etc. But we’re killing them in TERRIBLE ways. And buying the meat is just encouraging and supporting the meat industry. So in a way, it does make a small difference if you don’t buy meat, great article! I loved your points!

    1. You realize that most of the animals we are killing wouldn’t exist anyways without of force breeding them. Its not that we are “naturally” killing innocent and intelligent animals. We are literally breeding them to die.

    2. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works. The laws of supply and demand say that if people demand more, the supply increases. Everytime you purchase meat (you’ll purchase thousands of dollars worth or more in your lifetime) you are demanding that meat to be made. It’s like everyone in the country thinking “my vote doesn’t matter” and no one voting.

    3. Consumerism, deary. Supply and demand. The more demand there is for meat (because more people are eating it), the more meat is provided (by slaughtering animals). Unfortunately, along with that comes a bunch of animal cruelty. And it isn’t in one or two farms. Factory farming is the most efficient method of farming and you make the most profit; so a f*ck tonne of people do it. Hence, there’s a hell of a lot of animal cruelty and it only increases when the number of meat eaters increases.

So if you don’t eat meat, you are actually stopping this. The more vegetarians there are, the less demand there is for meat so less animals are killed and treated brutally.

I believe the best option is to find meat from humane farmers. Where cows have clean, warm, spacious stalls. Where chickens have plenty of room to run. Where pigs are treated if they are injured, not just smashed headfirst onto the concrete floor. We don’t need meat in our diets, but it is a very good thing to have. The best way to win at both sides is to find a provider who treats their animals properly.

Side note: The points in this article were ridiculous and badly structured. The writing is so opinionated and discriminates against everybody who doesn’t eat meat. It’s not ‘awesome’, it’s disgusting and ugly. He/she clearly doesn’t take both sides of the argument into account.

  2. I agree 100%

The Vegan / Vegetarian lifestyle is no worse than a carnivore life style except you deny yourself facts. Man is a carnivore. Say no more.

It’s simply a lifestyle choice. A wrong one but a choice. Like choosing to be Gay is a life style choice. A wrong one but a choice.

    1. Oh my word, I can’t believe your ignorance. To reiterate what ‘RRH’ said: HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT A CHOICE. It’s also not a wrong choice, you disgusting homophobe.

Secondly, you can’t say vegetarianism is a wrong choice either. It’s not your bloody opinion that counts. If you don’t want to be a vegetarian, don’t be one! Allow other people the same decision without your pathetic, opinionated bullcrap getting in the way. The meat industry condones animal cruelty because it is the most efficient way to get meat. Some of us just don’t want animals to be f*cking maimed and tortured. Respect our decisions.

  3. Never had read something as pointless as this!I don’t know how can a person like you speak about scientific proofs, as I see that you don’t even know that a cow needs as much water as field that can give food to 1 person for 8 months or more. How much can you live with the meat from one cow?

      1. …According to what she said, as much as a single cow needs in order to water one field which provides a person with food for 8 months. I thought that was obvious.

  4. O,yes, and if you don’t know the fair trade ecobilological farms are not killing as many small organisms as you say. However with all this GMO it doesn’t matter what you are eating. ITS SHIT!

  5. This is a hilarious article! You repeatedly imply that vegetarians are ignorant while extremely ignorant yourself. You can’t persecute vegetarians for killing your “microorganisms” that live on plants when you consume WAY more animals AND plants because of the meat industry’s demand for animal feed. So that point is very hypocritical.

  6. Hey, you know what? People who are vegetarians for religious reasons don’t deserve special treatment, though I grant that you didn’t specifically take the opportunity to make fun of them here. The article is funny.. even people who disagree ought to see that. If they don’t they’ve got bigger problems than their ridiculous self-imposed dietary restrictions… actually, maybe the problem is that they don’t have bigger problems. If your life is good enough that your main issue is being super finicky about your diet – well, I have a little bit of envy there I guess.

  7. “The only thing we have are thousands of studies showing a correlation between an increased risk of disease and an increase in meat consumption” Haha.

  8. I love this article.
And to all the vegetarians out there, please convert unless you have disabilities or religious reasons. There is no particular reason to not eat meat, it does not save lives or anything. It is a matter of the food chain, we eat the beings that have lower power. You are not saving animals you are just putting their lives to waste. If you do not eat meat, then people just throw the excess meat away. You are actually killing more organisms then you would be if you were a carnivore. So just don’t be a vegetarian please. It just doesn’t make sense and kills more then you save.
Thank you to whoever wrote this article:)

    1. You can’t seriously believe that. The food chains are a permanent fixture in nature; they will exist whether our entire race becomes vegetarian or not. Vegetarians are not killing more animals due to food chains or due to the ploughing of fields for their food. In fact, they aren’t killing more animals at all. What an idiotic thing to believe. Even without vegetarians, small critters are killed when we plough for the food for cattle and whatnot. Now that is a food chain matter that is relevant. Cattle need food, other small animals are killed in the process – same with all other animals. Like I said, this would happen with and without vegetarians so NO THEY DON’T KILL MORE ANIMALS.
Additionally, there are a multitude of different reasons for becoming vegetarian. Religious reasons are obvious. But most vegetarians don’t become so because they don’t want to kill animals. It’s because the animals that we eat are so brutally treated by their handlers. In most farms, cattle have their tails cut off without painkillers, they are stabbed and kicked when they don’t behave and they are crammed into tiny pens where all you can do is stand. The same goes for pigs, except pigs that aren’t perfect are thrown head first against the concrete until they die. Other are left to starve or writhe in pain. Fish are skinned alive and male chickens are chucked into grinders – alive. It is the inhumanity that people are campaigning for. Less consumers of animals means less demand for their meat. Less demand means less animals disgustingly maimed, tortured and slaughtered in inhumane and horrendous ways. THAT is why there is a major vegetarian/vegan movement.

So, yes. It does make bloody sense.

  9. I thought it’s only possible to read this much bullshit in articles that are mocking anti-veg people, lol. Unless this is the case here? I’m actually not sure, haha. It made me laugh either way. It’s so stupid it’s brilliant. If the author did the a three-minure google search, they would know that, too. =’)

  10. There are many, many things in this article which are just absolutely laughable. The two main things are, as follows: 1. Vegans and vegetarians are not the same. 2. You really didn’t do much research at all. There have been thousands of studies linking the consumption of meat, dairy, and eggs to not only heart disease (which is why eggs can no longer be advertised as “healthy”) but to cancers as well. More than just the China study. A whole plant foods, high carb, low fat diet has proven to reverse many illnesses. Additionally, a high starch whole plant foods based diet has been shown to diabetes specifically.

    1. Um. No.

A detailed Internet search will turn up plenty of stories of people who ate healthy vegan, were a good weight, and still got diabetes. If you have a genetic predisposition, it’s a matter of time before your body has trouble metabolizing carbs — even healthy ones. Sugar is sugar to your blood. The body doesn’t care if it comes from white bread or a white potato.

Also, current studies are pointing the finger at high-carb diets contributing to low HDL (the good cholesterol) and high LDL (the bad cholesterol) / high triglycerides. Because if you eat more carbs than you can burn, your body will store it as fat. I even found vegans who were stumped as to why they had bad cholesterol numbers on their blood tests despite eating very healthy vegan. It was all the carbs.

Wanna be vegan. By all means. But I don’t agree with the push for a high-starch diet.

And the best diet to prevent colon cancer? Pescatarian.

And the China Study is a joke. None of the populations studied were actually vegan, and correlation does not mean causation. There was a lack of proper controls used in this “study.”

As for meat and heart disease, that wouldn’t explain why the Inuit, who essentially ate nothing but meat, had virtually non-existent rates of heart disease. It’s the SAD diet that’s killing people — processed foods, refined carbs, bad fats / man-made fats, lack of plant foods, and the eating of inflammatory meat, i.e. grain-fed animals.

  11. You’re FUCKING right man you can eat wat ever u want just don’t eat to much. A man I leave these comment because I support what u said. I got in to these cuz my brother got these dumb FUCKING STUPID girlfriend and just because she’s vegetarian she acts like she’s better than everyone when I know she’s a FUCKING STUPID person with no rewards against humanity my bro told me before she got pregnant and he was happy for the news first kid u can imagine but she got rid of the kid overnight cuz she dint want it that she wasn’t ready I told my bro leave her she ain’t no good months pass he’s back with her they came over iwas grillin some burgers he brought Fucking stupid girl and he told me let me drop these veggie burgers first before I grill the real burgers cuz he’s girl it’s a vegetarian I said get these fucking stupid bitch out my house these bitch kill your boy and u got back wit her and going to tell me in my house wait on my burgers for these girl she acting like she’s better cuz she’s a veggie bitch fuck that I got 4 boys I’m all about life don’t use vegetarian escuse to act like ur better when u done horrible shit so if your a FUCKING STUPID vegetarian don’t act like your better then anyone

    1. After spending a while trying to understand what you had actually written, I figured I agree with the point you are trying to make. But don’t go and generalise all vegetarians. Meat eaters like the narrator in the article shouldn’t push their ideas on others either. Whether you are a vegetarian or not, don’t act like you are better than others. It doesn’t just apply to vegetarians.

  12. How about the meat eaters vegans, vegetarians, etc. get together and just kill all these preachy cunts who want to tell us how much better they are because of what they eat
