4 Reasons Why Becoming A Vegetarian Is A Fucking Stupid Idea

October 5, 2014 | 1674 Comments

Note: This post is not meant to target those who are vegetarians for religious reasons or those who are vegetarians because they have some chronic disease that doesn’t allow them to eat meat. Instead, I’m targeting every single idiot out there who is a vegetarian for reasons like animal cruelty and health benefits.

Edit 9/10/14: Alright time to clear some air here. I started FitMole back in June 2011 and wrote this article in Aug 2011. Back when I started the blog I was trying to discover the best way to generate more traffic. So I thought to myself, “what’s the best way to get people talking?” So I came up with this article and the slightly edgy, and some might even call immature headline. And yes, I know the article can be seen as a bit offensive and ignorant. I still stand by my claims 100% that going vegetarian isn’t healthier than eating meat, but I do take full responsibility for some of the slightly ignorant comments I’ve made about animal cruelty. Other than that, can the person who keeps sending me death threat emails stop now 🙂

First off I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I normally don’t swear in the post title, but I just have to emphasize how stupid it is to become a vegetarian. It’s stupid, ridiculous, unnecessary, stupid, and did I mention it’s FUCKING stupid.

I have a couple of friends and family members that are vegetarians, and don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them. I just can’t understand why they decided to follow this lifestyle.

When I ask them why they decided to become a vegetarian, they give me reasons like “Oh, it makes me feel good,” “Because meat is bad for your health,” or “I don’t want to harm animals.” Whenever I hear these reasons, I just put on my best “nod and pretend to agree with you” face.

So why is becoming a vegetarian stupid? Lets take a look:

1) You aren’t saving the lives of animals

I get it. You don’t like it when the heads of baby cows and pigs are chopped off, but do you really think eating that tofu burger is saving lives.

Fruits, vegetables, and grains are a staple among vegetarian diets, but did you know that millions of animals die just so you can enjoy that piece of bread? Eating foods like grains means destroying ecosystems and all of its inhabitants. It means killing all the little animals, birds, bugs, and microorganisms that live among the fields.

Do you know how many little animals and microorganisms die when farmers use machines to plow through wheat fields? The answer is a lot more than 1 cow.

As cheesy as it sounds, everything in life requires sacrifice. Animals are killed to get meat and ecosystems are destroyed to get grains. So the next time I’m eating a steak, don’t you dare judge me for killing a cow.

2) There is absolutely zero scientific proof showing that going vegetarian is healthy

When I want to believe something, I need proof. I need definite scientific proof.

And no, proof doesn’t mean reading a quote in Shape or MensHealth magazine. In order to convince me about anything I need to see a scientific study that shows causation not correlation.

For example, eating less food will make you loss weight.  This is a stone cold fact that will remain true no matter what.

However, there is absolutely ZERO proof showing that going vegetarian will decrease your risk of heart disease, cancer, or whatever nasty stuff you can think of.

The only thing we have are thousands of studies showing a correlation between an increased risk of disease and an increase in meat consumption. We have studies that conclude that eating meat “may increase” your risk of heart disease, but this doesn’t mean crap. It’s inconclusive and doesn’t prove anything. Saying that your risk of heart disease “may increase” from eating red meat is like saying you “may” be able to breath fire if you eat enough jalapenos.

And yes, before you get all crazy on me, I have read the China Study a.k.a the vegetarian’s wet dream. For those who don’t know, the China Study was a big study conducted by Dr. Campbell who basically concluded that meat is killer.

While the China Study garnered a ton of media attention a couple years ago, it is also an incredibly flawed study despite it’s massive scale. But talking about all the flaws in the China Study is beyond the scope of this article, so let me turn you over to a great article written by Denise Minger of Raw Food SOS. She did an amazing job in analyzing the China Study and basically debunked every single aspect of it.

People need to stop believing the mainstream media, and need to start looking at the actual research and facts.

3) You don’t get to eat meat

I know this is a bit obvious, but being a vegetarian means that you don’t get to eat meat. EVER. That means no steak, bacon, horse, or BBQ ribs. The closest thing you’ll ever get to meat is some glued together crap made of wheat and soy.

And please, don’t tell me that your veggie burger tastes better than my double bacon cheeseburger, okay? Don’t tell me “Oh, but it tastes just like the real thing.” No it doesn’t, you rationalizing crazy person. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, a piece of tofu will never taste as good as a greasy piece of beef.

So if vegetarians are so concerned about their health, then why do they opt for highly processed foods likes breads and cereals that are not found in nature as opposed to real animal meat which has been around since…. forever. It makes no freakin sense.

4) Vegetarians are actually eating animals without knowing it!

This past summer, I took a Biology 101 class at a community college to fulfill some general education requirements for my degree. While the class was a complete waste of my time and I pretty much bull-shitted my way through it, I did learn something quite interesting.

I learned about the food web, which is basically description of “who eats who” in the environment.

It goes something like this:

fox eats rabbit => fox poops into the soil => the living soil then absorbs the poop(which includes the rabbit) => fruit and vegetable plants absorb that exact same soil to grow => humans eat those same fruits and vegetables

This process happens EVERYWHERE in nature.

So even if you’re a vegetarian, you’re technically eating dead animals, albeit in a more indirect liquid form. But last time I checked, vegetarians were all about saving lives no matter what.

Don’t be a vegetarian

Despite everything you’ve heard, vegetarians are NOT the health conscious animal saving saints that they’re made out to be.

Instead, vegetarians:

  • Support the destruction of ecosystems to obtain their food
  • Kill millions of small animals, bugs, and microorganisms
  • Aren’t saving their health since there’s absolutely zero scientific proof showing that meat is bad for you
  • Are actually eating meat without knowing it
  • Are simply misinformed about every aspect of the vegetarian lifestyle

So if you’re a vegetarian, then hopefully I’ve done my job to piss you off beyond belief, and if I converted you, then that’s cool too.

Once again, the only reason why you should be a vegetarian is for religious reasons or because you have a some chronic disease that doesn’t allow you to eat meat. But even if you’re a vegetarian for religious reasons, you might want to start questioning the logic behind your beliefs, just saying.

Alright guys, be sure to share this article with every single vegetarian you know, and to close out this article I have 3 parting words:

FUCK YOU PETA

  1. I bet you’re in denial about climate change too. You should run for president (republicans). They’re in need of more dumbasses like you.

  2. I’m not vegetarian, but my fiance is mostly vegan. Being vegetarian saves around 14 or more animals lives a year. While I myself am not giving up meat or dairy, I applaud her efforts and I’m definitely eating less meat which is factually healthier. More animals die creating grains and veggies to feed animals that we eat than more animals die from harvesting for vegetarians. Get your facts straight, man. It’s a fact that the meat and dairy industries are terrible. And while I’m not giving up eating some dairy; there has never been anything normal about consuming cows breast milk.

    1. you eat 14 animals per year?
I love meat. I calculated that it will take me 45 years to eat 1 cattle.

Chicken is not an animal it is a bird I eat many more of them…

      1. Did u just say chicken is not an animal? Someone obviously never paid attention in science class. Let me educate you then. Fish, Reptiles, Amphibians, BIRDS and mammals are all classified as animals and these are just examples of vertebrates. Insects, crabs, lobsters, etc. are also considered apart of the animal kingdom. So eating 14 animals a year is more than normal for the average human

  3. I’ll be straigh and clear and say that You really don’t know what you’re talking about.

Yeah, you’re saving lives of animals. For each person that stops buying meat, you’ll get a small decrease of it’s demand. Basic economy, I guess.

Animals eat grains that are produced exclusively for them. The calories they ingest are much more wasted then given to us. Eating grains would be 6x cheaper then meat, since less energy would be wasted. (http://www.worldwatch.org/node/549) Animals destroy the environment in many ways: they need land to live, bye bye forest. Then, they need food, bye bye another forest to produce grains to feed them. Then, again, while existing they destroy the soil they’re in AND increases the carbon footprint.

It might not be totally healthy to be a vegetarian, but it’s much healthier then eating meat. You eat meat fried, with lots of cholesterol, processed food like sausage and related, cow milk which is proven to be unhealthy. When you start a vegetarian diet you start to eat more vegetables and stuff that can, obviously, contain industrialized products. So it’s much more likely that vegetarianism is much better then not.

3 is not an argument. I like many vegetarian foods, and they provide a much lighter and soft feeling after ingestion.

The point of being a vegetarian isn’t about not eating things from animals only. Is much more about this cycle of bringing animals to life simply to kill them months later, to sustain a dumb cultural system that tries to make you think there’s nothing wrong in killing millions of animals yearly.

  4. The tirade of the self righteous! Eat what you want, but a vegan diet isn’t going to protect you from cancer, heart disease, or any other disease. Some diseases are hereditary. A lot of cancers are caused by bad luck. Doctors can’t tell a person why they got a cancer. People have been eating animal protein for centuries. All of a sudden, milk and meat are causing all these diseases. If this was true, the human race should have gone extinct a million years ago. We are still around and show no evidence we are are going away. It will be interesting to see if vegans develop any nutritional diseases as they age. Wouldn’t be surprised if they do. The movement hasn’t been around long enough for any meaning data on that. We will have to wait and see.

  5. If we truly believe that no living thing should have to die for our dinner, we shouldn’t eat at all. If we truly believe that all life deserves equal respect, why not equalize ourselves by embracing the elegant fact that we are all, as Nelson writes, “driven by the same hungers that motivate any other creature— the squirrel in the forest, the vole in the meadow, the bear on the mountainside, the deer in the valley”?

  6. May I first say, that addressing this matter the way you are makes you appear very uneducated with no credibility. ): To be frank, there is no credibility or logic in your argument. There is already fallacy by name-calling. This is how you lose credibility and look like you lack a formal education. May I ask you this: what do you claim the masses of animals we breed, eat? It is not just air, but products like grains. How do we get crops to feed these millions of animals? We grow them, then feed them to the animals, and then feed the animals to ourselves. It is clear that cutting out the middle man actually saves food, along with time, land, soil, water, etc. It has even been proven that with all of the food we waste by giving to animals first, and then eating the animals, we could feed every last starving human being on this planet, and then some. Animal agriculture is even the leading cause of global warming (yes, worse than transportation, due to the methane quantities). So, yes, vegetarians and vegans save lives as well as limit food waste, water waste, land and soil waste, and even limit the destruction of our ozone. Animal agriculture pollutes our water, nonetheless. So, instead of the animals that accidentally get hurt when harvesting crops, with the animals we kill for food or that just die because of their conditions, vegetarians and vegans, or even those who cut down on animal products, spare hundreds of animals per year. Something to think about. Nonetheless, it is scientifically fact that our bodies make all the cholesterol that we need per day. Having animal products only increases this more, which gives higher cholesterol. Animal products are also higher in saturated fats, which is also fact that it aids in the forming of excess cholesterol. Researching a little about our biology and about nutrition can only help you, if you want to give it a shot. (: I can go on, but I think I have said enough. There is no credibility or logic in this argument and it is full of fallacy, meant in the kindest way I could possibly say. ): Always consider to think things through from every factor that comes into play, and not just one. Nonetheless, please don’t spread rumor without doing any research from credible sources. I hope you can see past your bias and carry on with life with an open mind. I wish you the best. (:

Please consider reading these as to not be confirmation bias, and then consider looking more into agriculture, animal welfare, green house gas emissions, conservation issues, and other environmental issues, and nutrition. (:

  7. Seriously, vegans and vegetarians are emssed up and dumb people. A couple almost killed a 1 year old baby because they “feed” it vegan. Let’s hope all vegans die of undernourishment so we can live a world without these dumb fucks. Vegetarians are (sometimes) okay, I have a few friends who are vegetarians and they respect me, but many of them are so fucking shitty showing up their eating habits to others…Just stop! We don’t care if an animal gets killed and eat, animals also kill other animals to nourish themselves! Shitty dumb humanity!!

    1. Listen I love animals. I rehibilitat baby birds and rabbits. 3 days a week I volenteer at my local animal shelter and have adopted two cats that enjoy their diet that contains meat. (Cats need meat or they die) now while I love my pets I am to eat meat. Now I don’t just buy meat from the grocery store. I buy my meat, eggs and milk from a local farm which takes very good care of the animals. (The chickens are free range, cows have a MASSIVE pasture and a roomy barn. I even buy my thanksgiving turkey from the farm. I don’t believe in buying eggs from farms tabby keep chickens in tiny cages or buying meat and milk from a place that cages and beats cows. Believe me I love animals and meat as long as the animals where killed in a humane, painless way.

  8. Let me address each point.
    1) You began by mentioning that other animals and microorganisms (which shouldn’t be included by the way) are harmed in grain production. What you didn’t consider is that the cows that you eat also need plant based nutrients for survival. So basically not only are cows, chicken, etc affected in animal consumption but these small animals you mentioned are also affected. So in other words vegetarians and vegans are simply cutting out the middle man. By the way the energy we gain from plants is much more than the energy we gain from animals. This is because energy is lost in animals due to respiration and other animal processes. Therefore a smaller quantity of plant based food is required and hence less of those small animals you mentioned are hurt.
    2) You mentioned that there were many studies done that showed an increase in meat eating has led to many diseases. You basically kicked yourself in the butt here. Obviously if an increase in the amount of meat increases chance of disease then a decrease in the amount of meat must mean a decrease in the amount of disease. You also stated that these studies are invalid without giving a reason to justify your claim. After which you used a poor analogy which further proved you had no grounds for your statement.
    3) This was probably your worst argument yet. I haven’t been a vegetarian for very long but I have been very content with the food I currently eat. Tofu is not the only thing that we eat for your information. Everyone has their own taste preference. So you shouldn’t assume that everyone is going to love meat simply because you do. Even before I became a vegetarian I never really enjoyed the taste of meat. That was just my preference.
    4) No I take back my previous statement. This is your worst argument. You are basically saying that we are eating meat because animals defecate in the soil. Firstly you need to understand that many undertake this lifestyle for a moral reason. Hence, we are against humans actively trying to murder animals for commercial or consumption purposes. It is similar to argument that states that we are wrong for using oil since some of the oil is made from fossilized remains of animals. We can’t prevent the death of other animals as a result of natures vicious cycle but we can prevent humans from acting like the animals with a lack of morality. We can’t stop a fox from eating other animals and then defecating in the soil. But we must consider that by taking this moral high ground we greatly reduce the amount of animals that will be killed in the future. But the way you probably never really went in-depth in biology so let me explain. A majority of the nutrients gained by the rabbit is processed by the fox’s digestive system and enters the fox’s own circulatory system. A majority of the excreted feces is made up of water, bacteria, cellulose (plant matter) and inorganic compounds. A small percentage of it is made of proteins (and some of that protein could be plant) and fats. So even if it is a case where a carnivore fertilizes our foods, only an extremely small percentage of it would contain animal matter. Also I do not believe plants need to absorb animal fat and protein from feces (I could be wrong thought) as they probably would need other things such as nitrogen. Also I have hardly heard of cases where manure from carnivorous animals is used. So again that basically means that eating animal nutrient from plants would be as rare as a man winning the lottery a hundred times in a row. That last analogy was just an exaggeration and by no means is intended to be literal

  9. Eat what the hell you want, if were were all in a survival situation you wouldnt be picky about what you eat. But u might say were not in a survival situation. If you give a hungry child food he dont care what it is meat, fruit whatever they will eat it. To them they think its probably bull to be a vegan. Me I dont care what i eat as long as its food. I could never be in the world of a vegan just imagine you cant eat this this this and the list goes on. What kinda of crap is that no ones restricting you about what you can eat only but yourself. I rather enjoy all the food before the day I die. Im fit btw work out it would be pretty hard for me to recover my body without the proper nutrition.

  10. Why should I question my beliefs? Just because some moron said it? Go live in your fuckin 21st century where everyone fucks with eachother without any fucking morals. You don’t even imagine how cruely are animals killed in factories, some are even beaten till death that you could fucking eat your gross meat. I don’t like meat, I used to eat it rarely but now i stopped because of my religion. Screw you
