4 Reasons Why Becoming A Vegetarian Is A Fucking Stupid Idea

October 5, 2014 | 1674 Comments

Note: This post is not meant to target those who are vegetarians for religious reasons or those who are vegetarians because they have some chronic disease that doesn’t allow them to eat meat. Instead, I’m targeting every single idiot out there who is a vegetarian for reasons like animal cruelty and health benefits.

Edit 9/10/14: Alright time to clear some air here. I started FitMole back in June 2011 and wrote this article in Aug 2011. Back when I started the blog I was trying to discover the best way to generate more traffic. So I thought to myself, “what’s the best way to get people talking?” So I came up with this article and the slightly edgy, and some might even call immature headline. And yes, I know the article can be seen as a bit offensive and ignorant. I still stand by my claims 100% that going vegetarian isn’t healthier than eating meat, but I do take full responsibility for some of the slightly ignorant comments I’ve made about animal cruelty. Other than that, can the person who keeps sending me death threat emails stop now 🙂

First off I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I normally don’t swear in the post title, but I just have to emphasize how stupid it is to become a vegetarian. It’s stupid, ridiculous, unnecessary, stupid, and did I mention it’s FUCKING stupid.

I have a couple of friends and family members that are vegetarians, and don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them. I just can’t understand why they decided to follow this lifestyle.

When I ask them why they decided to become a vegetarian, they give me reasons like “Oh, it makes me feel good,” “Because meat is bad for your health,” or “I don’t want to harm animals.” Whenever I hear these reasons, I just put on my best “nod and pretend to agree with you” face.

So why is becoming a vegetarian stupid? Lets take a look:

1) You aren’t saving the lives of animals

I get it. You don’t like it when the heads of baby cows and pigs are chopped off, but do you really think eating that tofu burger is saving lives.

Fruits, vegetables, and grains are a staple among vegetarian diets, but did you know that millions of animals die just so you can enjoy that piece of bread? Eating foods like grains means destroying ecosystems and all of its inhabitants. It means killing all the little animals, birds, bugs, and microorganisms that live among the fields.

Do you know how many little animals and microorganisms die when farmers use machines to plow through wheat fields? The answer is a lot more than 1 cow.

As cheesy as it sounds, everything in life requires sacrifice. Animals are killed to get meat and ecosystems are destroyed to get grains. So the next time I’m eating a steak, don’t you dare judge me for killing a cow.

2) There is absolutely zero scientific proof showing that going vegetarian is healthy

When I want to believe something, I need proof. I need definite scientific proof.

And no, proof doesn’t mean reading a quote in Shape or MensHealth magazine. In order to convince me about anything I need to see a scientific study that shows causation not correlation.

For example, eating less food will make you loss weight.  This is a stone cold fact that will remain true no matter what.

However, there is absolutely ZERO proof showing that going vegetarian will decrease your risk of heart disease, cancer, or whatever nasty stuff you can think of.

The only thing we have are thousands of studies showing a correlation between an increased risk of disease and an increase in meat consumption. We have studies that conclude that eating meat “may increase” your risk of heart disease, but this doesn’t mean crap. It’s inconclusive and doesn’t prove anything. Saying that your risk of heart disease “may increase” from eating red meat is like saying you “may” be able to breath fire if you eat enough jalapenos.

And yes, before you get all crazy on me, I have read the China Study a.k.a the vegetarian’s wet dream. For those who don’t know, the China Study was a big study conducted by Dr. Campbell who basically concluded that meat is killer.

While the China Study garnered a ton of media attention a couple years ago, it is also an incredibly flawed study despite it’s massive scale. But talking about all the flaws in the China Study is beyond the scope of this article, so let me turn you over to a great article written by Denise Minger of Raw Food SOS. She did an amazing job in analyzing the China Study and basically debunked every single aspect of it.

People need to stop believing the mainstream media, and need to start looking at the actual research and facts.

3) You don’t get to eat meat

I know this is a bit obvious, but being a vegetarian means that you don’t get to eat meat. EVER. That means no steak, bacon, horse, or BBQ ribs. The closest thing you’ll ever get to meat is some glued together crap made of wheat and soy.

And please, don’t tell me that your veggie burger tastes better than my double bacon cheeseburger, okay? Don’t tell me “Oh, but it tastes just like the real thing.” No it doesn’t, you rationalizing crazy person. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, a piece of tofu will never taste as good as a greasy piece of beef.

So if vegetarians are so concerned about their health, then why do they opt for highly processed foods likes breads and cereals that are not found in nature as opposed to real animal meat which has been around since…. forever. It makes no freakin sense.

4) Vegetarians are actually eating animals without knowing it!

This past summer, I took a Biology 101 class at a community college to fulfill some general education requirements for my degree. While the class was a complete waste of my time and I pretty much bull-shitted my way through it, I did learn something quite interesting.

I learned about the food web, which is basically description of “who eats who” in the environment.

It goes something like this:

fox eats rabbit => fox poops into the soil => the living soil then absorbs the poop(which includes the rabbit) => fruit and vegetable plants absorb that exact same soil to grow => humans eat those same fruits and vegetables

This process happens EVERYWHERE in nature.

So even if you’re a vegetarian, you’re technically eating dead animals, albeit in a more indirect liquid form. But last time I checked, vegetarians were all about saving lives no matter what.

Don’t be a vegetarian

Despite everything you’ve heard, vegetarians are NOT the health conscious animal saving saints that they’re made out to be.

Instead, vegetarians:

  • Support the destruction of ecosystems to obtain their food
  • Kill millions of small animals, bugs, and microorganisms
  • Aren’t saving their health since there’s absolutely zero scientific proof showing that meat is bad for you
  • Are actually eating meat without knowing it
  • Are simply misinformed about every aspect of the vegetarian lifestyle

So if you’re a vegetarian, then hopefully I’ve done my job to piss you off beyond belief, and if I converted you, then that’s cool too.

Once again, the only reason why you should be a vegetarian is for religious reasons or because you have a some chronic disease that doesn’t allow you to eat meat. But even if you’re a vegetarian for religious reasons, you might want to start questioning the logic behind your beliefs, just saying.

Alright guys, be sure to share this article with every single vegetarian you know, and to close out this article I have 3 parting words:

FUCK YOU PETA

  1. No, my tofu burger doesn’t taste like the dead, rotten carcass of a dead animal.
I much prefer the taste of tofu over dead bodies though so not a problem for me!
The thought of eating or even tasting meat makes me feel sick.

    1. So you actually think that when an animal is killed for food it’s left to rot before being served.

Someone said it before, it’s a food chain and from the very start of humanity we have killed and eaten animals, just because our brains have developed to the point we know what’s going on doesn’t mean we should stop our natural instincts which is to eat meat.

    2. Good for you! I don’t mind people that eat meat but unless it’s necisarry to my survival I would never dream of doing It!

  2. Ok, this website is have the most ridiculous reason I have ever heard. For number 1: if people stop buying meat or animal products then the consumer demand goes down, meaning for the companies to not go broke they have to stop breeding animals therefore making less suffering. Haven’t you ever thought that if you don’t buy it then one less cow will be killed tomorrow and two less the next day and so on…. Number 2: my mum is chronically sick and was for 6 years she was on almost 10 different drugs a day. They would range from painkillers to who knows what to try and help her pain go away. It never did. Until she took on a raw vegan lifestyle. Now my mum wasn’t “classified” with a specific chronic illness but everyone knew she had one. It was obvious, as soon as she took on this life style she went from lying on the couch for months on end to going for hour long hikes up mountains. Sure you said it’s fine for chronic illness people to go vegan but why the hell isnt it fine for anyone else too? It’s their decision. Doesn’t that show proof that it has health benefits? How about you show me some proof that meat is good for you and has many health benefits and don’t give me all that crap “it has protein” cause everyone knows you can get plenty of protein from other foods! GOOGLE IT for goodness sake.
Number 3: I shall use some of your own language now…. I can choose to not fucking eat meat if I don’t want to! What is your problem? It’s my choice to eat it or not.
Number 4: and all this shit about the animal that was eaten by another animal and was pooped into the grass and dissolved into the dirt which you grew something from so therefore you ate it! WTF DUDE! And all these so called creatures we kill to eat grains what about those tiny microorganisms that live in your eyebrows? Every time you touch your eyebrow you probably kill one. Just because someone may step on an ant or accidentally squash a bug doesn’t mean that we are not vegans. Accidentally squashing a bug is normal. Animals do it, other bugs do it, humans do it. Torturing animals and keeping them locked away with only tiny spaces for them to live is not natural. Neither is killing them by smashing their heads in the sledgehammers (like we saw in Asia recently)
Overall, your points are stupid and I really think you just wanted to piss people off about it. Before you start to preach again maybe to your research on both sides of the table not just the “vegans are stupid side” sure my reasoning might not sound so scientific but it’s much better than yours.
You crossed the line here mate

      1. Actually, fuck you.
This is dumb as shit and the fact that you actually believe in this is god-damn borderline retarded, nr 1 is straight up false because of the amount of plants needed to raise a cow for eating purposes is way over the amount of plants you would need to eat/make to get the same nutrition, 2. I don’t give! if its healthier or not depends on how well you eat and how many of your essential nutrients you consume daily, which is entirely possible for both kinds of people. 3. are you actually fucking stupid, to me(and others) meat look, feels, tastes and smells disgusting likely because of our negative connotations with it, to some others they value their principles more than meat. 4. THAT IS A FOOD CHAIN ITS A PART OF THE ECOSYSTEM, THAT IS LITERALLY HOW EVERYTHING STAYS ALIVE YOU FUCKING DOLT, if you water down the meaning of the word animal that much than we are breathing in animals because of denitrification, which is, like your claim, ENTIRELY scientifically inaccurate because what we breathe is small amounts of nitrogen and what we eat is plants grown from nutrients largely, but not in the least limited to, the ones derived from animal poop. vegetarians are not peta in the same way white christians are not nazis or the kkk.

You really should go get a psych eval because there is serious reason to believe you are mentally deficient, if this text which could have been written by a 1st grader converted anyone i fear for the school system of their country.

  3. LOL if even 2% of Americans think like this I genuinely feel sorry for the normal people who have to live with these pieces of scum. Oh and BTW author, please go drink some bleach, its a great source of protein 🙂

  4. There nothing fit about that minime under your nose, your an unfit mole with a shitty attitude and a small brain, you should trace ur family tree to find your brain rehab.

  5. First of all the animal cruelty part it might not save lives but people like me still don’t want to eat creatures that used to be alive. About the health part it’s not that eating no meat is healthy but a vegetarian diet usually consists of fruit and veggies. Also a lot of vegetarians have close relationship with a cow or another animal.

  6. Also about killing ecosystems seriously seriously? You eat bread to so no logic there. I don’t understand why people are vegans but I wouldn’t post some online rant saying why they shouldn’t be.

  7. Stupid fuckin vegans. The amount of people that eat meat EXTREMELY outnumber the amount of vegans/vegetarians there are. The same number of animals are being killed to put some nice greasy meat on my plate every day, and this “demand” for meat you guys are trying to lower is fucking stupid cuz these animals are dumb as fuck and they have been hunted and killed for thousands of years, and its a perfectly normal practice. Fuck you vegans and vegetarian motherfuckers.

    1. What? I’m not a vegetarian because I want to ‘lower the demand for meat’!
Why can you not respect that everyone has different views?
I respect that you eat meat, why can’t you respect that I don’t?

    2. Fernando: First of all I would like to state that excessive swearing is a sign that you are not smart enough to express your opinions in a more, umm civilised way. Anyway, to correct you: You said that animals are “dumb as fuck”. Wrong! Most farm animals are not actually “dumb as fuck” and instead could be social and/or be able to mourn. I am disgusted at the fact that you would actually enjoy an animal slaughtered for a patty of mass produced rubbish. Man, I think I’m gonna have a nice warm bath and forget about this entire ill-researched article. Passion for animals!

  8. Holy shit, I think my IQ went down ten points after reading this.
First off, there is a huge difference between going vegan and vegetarian. Watch Forks over Knives on Netflix. There have been hundreds of studies which show plant based protein is actually healthier than animal based protein. Not only that, but A PLANT BASED DIET ELIMINATES DIABETES, HEART DISEASE, PROSTATE CANCER, HIGH CHOLESTEROL. Don’t believe me? Research into the China Study on Wikipedia. Your animal based protein diet is severely unhealthy and poisonous to your body!!
Secondly, are you fucking high, insane, and or both? I do not condone factory farming. I do not condone the billions of animals slaughtered yearly because humans are selfish and animals “taste good” We DO NOT NEED ANIMALS IN OUR DIET. Obviously, there will be sometime when I accidentally eat an animal product, or do something that harms another living organism unintentionally. But by stopping the eating of anything animals and preaching to my friends and family around me, that is 100s of animals saved in one year!!! You are fucking stupid and you obviously should research before posting your blasphemy on the internet.

  9. I’m not a vegetarian so that I can save lives or be made out to be some kind of saint as your post suggests. I’m a vegetarian because whenever I had eaten meat, I’d feel guilty about it. I felt horrible.
Vegetarians aren’t trying to make you like them, were not trying to make others feel guilty, its a personal choice!
I respect that it is a meat-eaters choice to eat meat, and I don’t bother them about it. So why do meat-eaters very rarely respect my personal decision to eat a vegetarian diet?
But the worst part of being a vegetarian, is escaping the stereotypes that your post supports. I had somebody sit down with me at lunch, and the first thing he said to me was “I know your a vegetarian, but this is what I’m eating. I don’t care if you don’t agree with it”.
I then had to explain to him that I couldn’t care less what other people eat! Eat that sausage in front of me. I don’t care!
Everyone has the right to eat what they want to eat.

  10. The writer of this article has obviously just got it in for us vegetarians but that’s ok. Oh and he obviously doesn’t know that red meat in large amounts is bad for you causing heart disease and diabetes. But yeah sure us veggies are killing poor bugs…
I for one don’t even like the taste of meat and I certainly don’t feel happy eating the body of an animal who has had to be really frightened the last few seconds of their life, in the slaughter house. That to me is just enough, I won’t eat meat now or tomorrow.
