Note: This post is not meant to target those who are vegetarians for religious reasons or those who are vegetarians because they have some chronic disease that doesn’t allow them to eat meat. Instead, I’m targeting every single idiot out there who is a vegetarian for reasons like animal cruelty and health benefits.
Edit 9/10/14: Alright time to clear some air here. I started FitMole back in June 2011 and wrote this article in Aug 2011. Back when I started the blog I was trying to discover the best way to generate more traffic. So I thought to myself, “what’s the best way to get people talking?” So I came up with this article and the slightly edgy, and some might even call immature headline. And yes, I know the article can be seen as a bit offensive and ignorant. I still stand by my claims 100% that going vegetarian isn’t healthier than eating meat, but I do take full responsibility for some of the slightly ignorant comments I’ve made about animal cruelty. Other than that, can the person who keeps sending me death threat emails stop now 🙂
First off I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I normally don’t swear in the post title, but I just have to emphasize how stupid it is to become a vegetarian. It’s stupid, ridiculous, unnecessary, stupid, and did I mention it’s FUCKING stupid.
I have a couple of friends and family members that are vegetarians, and don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them. I just can’t understand why they decided to follow this lifestyle.
When I ask them why they decided to become a vegetarian, they give me reasons like “Oh, it makes me feel good,” “Because meat is bad for your health,” or “I don’t want to harm animals.” Whenever I hear these reasons, I just put on my best “nod and pretend to agree with you” face.

So why is becoming a vegetarian stupid? Lets take a look:
1) You aren’t saving the lives of animals
I get it. You don’t like it when the heads of baby cows and pigs are chopped off, but do you really think eating that tofu burger is saving lives.
Fruits, vegetables, and grains are a staple among vegetarian diets, but did you know that millions of animals die just so you can enjoy that piece of bread? Eating foods like grains means destroying ecosystems and all of its inhabitants. It means killing all the little animals, birds, bugs, and microorganisms that live among the fields.
Do you know how many little animals and microorganisms die when farmers use machines to plow through wheat fields? The answer is a lot more than 1 cow.
As cheesy as it sounds, everything in life requires sacrifice. Animals are killed to get meat and ecosystems are destroyed to get grains. So the next time I’m eating a steak, don’t you dare judge me for killing a cow.
2) There is absolutely zero scientific proof showing that going vegetarian is healthy
When I want to believe something, I need proof. I need definite scientific proof.
And no, proof doesn’t mean reading a quote in Shape or MensHealth magazine. In order to convince me about anything I need to see a scientific study that shows causation not correlation.
For example, eating less food will make you loss weight. This is a stone cold fact that will remain true no matter what.
However, there is absolutely ZERO proof showing that going vegetarian will decrease your risk of heart disease, cancer, or whatever nasty stuff you can think of.
The only thing we have are thousands of studies showing a correlation between an increased risk of disease and an increase in meat consumption. We have studies that conclude that eating meat “may increase” your risk of heart disease, but this doesn’t mean crap. It’s inconclusive and doesn’t prove anything. Saying that your risk of heart disease “may increase” from eating red meat is like saying you “may” be able to breath fire if you eat enough jalapenos.
And yes, before you get all crazy on me, I have read the China Study a.k.a the vegetarian’s wet dream. For those who don’t know, the China Study was a big study conducted by Dr. Campbell who basically concluded that meat is killer.
While the China Study garnered a ton of media attention a couple years ago, it is also an incredibly flawed study despite it’s massive scale. But talking about all the flaws in the China Study is beyond the scope of this article, so let me turn you over to a great article written by Denise Minger of Raw Food SOS. She did an amazing job in analyzing the China Study and basically debunked every single aspect of it.
People need to stop believing the mainstream media, and need to start looking at the actual research and facts.
[The leaders of anti-vegetarians]
3) You don’t get to eat meat
I know this is a bit obvious, but being a vegetarian means that you don’t get to eat meat. EVER. That means no steak, bacon, horse, or BBQ ribs. The closest thing you’ll ever get to meat is some glued together crap made of wheat and soy.
And please, don’t tell me that your veggie burger tastes better than my double bacon cheeseburger, okay? Don’t tell me “Oh, but it tastes just like the real thing.” No it doesn’t, you rationalizing crazy person. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, a piece of tofu will never taste as good as a greasy piece of beef.
So if vegetarians are so concerned about their health, then why do they opt for highly processed foods likes breads and cereals that are not found in nature as opposed to real animal meat which has been around since…. forever. It makes no freakin sense.
4) Vegetarians are actually eating animals without knowing it!
This past summer, I took a Biology 101 class at a community college to fulfill some general education requirements for my degree. While the class was a complete waste of my time and I pretty much bull-shitted my way through it, I did learn something quite interesting.
I learned about the food web, which is basically description of “who eats who” in the environment.
It goes something like this:
fox eats rabbit => fox poops into the soil => the living soil then absorbs the poop(which includes the rabbit) => fruit and vegetable plants absorb that exact same soil to grow => humans eat those same fruits and vegetables
This process happens EVERYWHERE in nature.
So even if you’re a vegetarian, you’re technically eating dead animals, albeit in a more indirect liquid form. But last time I checked, vegetarians were all about saving lives no matter what.
Don’t be a vegetarian
Despite everything you’ve heard, vegetarians are NOT the health conscious animal saving saints that they’re made out to be.
Instead, vegetarians:
- Support the destruction of ecosystems to obtain their food
- Kill millions of small animals, bugs, and microorganisms
- Aren’t saving their health since there’s absolutely zero scientific proof showing that meat is bad for you
- Are actually eating meat without knowing it
- Are simply misinformed about every aspect of the vegetarian lifestyle
So if you’re a vegetarian, then hopefully I’ve done my job to piss you off beyond belief, and if I converted you, then that’s cool too.
Once again, the only reason why you should be a vegetarian is for religious reasons or because you have a some chronic disease that doesn’t allow you to eat meat. But even if you’re a vegetarian for religious reasons, you might want to start questioning the logic behind your beliefs, just saying.
Alright guys, be sure to share this article with every single vegetarian you know, and to close out this article I have 3 parting words:
FUCK YOU PETA

Logically, I agree with most of this.
I’ve had urges to become a vegetarian but logically, vegetarianism makes zero sense to me.
1) Animals eat animals. For vegetarians, that’s a cycle of life.
But when humans(scientifically, still an “animal”) eat animals, it’s murder.
2) It’s part of LIFE. It’s called a freaking food chain. It happens! The survival of the fittest. Deal with it.
3) if you feel so bad about animals dying because they are “sacrificed” as food, THEN I GUESS YOU’LL HAVE TO RID THE WORLD OF ANY CARNIVORES.
However, some I would like to disagree with:
There is scientific evidence that eating more plants than meat is healthy, but cutting meat completely out, is not I believe. Lowers TMAO levels which leads to less risk of CAD.
Guy… Animals eat animals TO SURVIVE… its not the ‘cycle of life’ because humans dont need to eat animals to survive… quite the opposite, in fact.
No its not ‘part of life’, again, we dont need animals to survive and are healthier when not consuming any animal products… Don’t believe me? Think I’m an idiot? Great, go to Google Scholar and find the peer-reviewed medical journals proving demonstrably, empirically, and objectively that what I’m saying is correct.
Your third point is so incredibly ridiculously idiotic that I can’t dignify it with a response, sorry.
You’re so f-ing stupid.
I was expecting more from you as a fellow human. I can go on a huge ramble to state how you would be misguided but, I am a vegan now but for much of my life I wasn’t. It came as a huge paradime shift to me, at once I considered cows and pigs as a viable food source but they are at least as sentient and sensitive as a dog. Why is it it that you are repulsed by eating swan and not chicken? Why is it that you never asked why was that you never wondered? Dr. Melanie Joy coined the term carnism as a belief that eating certain animals are okay but others are not. She explained beautifully in her book “Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows” that eating meat is a choice in our world and choices stem from beliefs.
Lions for instance don’t have access to the internet or supermarkets and their anatomy cannot support a plant based diet. It is a way of life for them to kill and eat their food in a single sitting without seasoning it with vegetables or cooking it. Would you care if that lion killed your mother or best friend? Likely you would say yes, would you be mad? Most likely you wouldn’t call it the circle of life. That lion needed to eat and therefore indescriminatly killed a human for that next meal.
I agree completely, I think people should eat more vegetables but not cut out meat completely.then there would be less obese people in the u.s. Eating no meat at all won’t do anything, there will ALWAYS be some people out there that will eat meat, I know I wouldn’t ever be able to give up meat. it’s called the FOOD CHAIN and it’s COMPLETELY natural, even my 5 year old daughter knows that.
If that lion killed and ate your daughter, you would likely feel remorse and would likely wish death on that lion. It is completely natural after all.
A lion kills and eats flesh indiscriminately as opposed to humans who would rather put up barriers to block the injustice that we put on to other sentiant beings. I asked myself once why was it that I ate a pig when I also love my dog and cat. I met these animals at farms in the past which really struck my curiosity and I felt a shift. I no longer saw farm animals as commodities after that and I felt disgusted to further partake in carnism after that. I saw them as someone and not something and I had then started researching meatless diets and how to get the needed nutrients, (I nixed dairy and eggs years after) and I found out that I can get all my needed nutrients from plant foods. I no longer used primitive human actions to justify my behaviors as many other things also deemed primitive now but justified as natural, normal and necessary. Male supremacy, infanticide and rape are only a few actions that are deemed normal in past times but most people now accept as wrong. I concluded myself that I didn’t need to kill animals to make me healthy. I had blood work done and there is not a single deficiency (including B-12 which is actually produced by bacteria and we used to get it from untreated water sources and unwashed produce)
That’s fine for you. I like eating meat. It is healthy, and natural to do so. I don’t appreciate someone saying the next step, or an advancement to society is veganism. Enjoy it if that’s what you like, I don’t think it means you are somehow more advanced in your thinking. I own part of a family farm, our grass fed nearly free range beef is awesome. I completely disagree that what we do is barbaric or wrong.
Lion kills your family, you will be mad. However, that will not make lion stop killing your family. To stop it, we make our defense. We protect yourself to not to be killed. The animal we killed because they can’t protect themselves. It is pure natural events. Why do people likes to use lion as example and said they have to eat meat or die? However about we talk about monkey? it is more close to human. monkey eats meat too when they have a chance. They don’t need to eat meat to survive. I may not agree all the points from that article, but i believe stop eating meat wont’ save more life. a life of a bug is as a life of a cow.
1 life = 1 life. To farm human food, we will killed more life than we farm animal. It is not only animal with red blood should be count as a life. and don’t forget, plants has life too. 1 cow = 1 life, can feed many people, but you need to eat many plants each meal. which one will save more life? Vegetarians think they save more life only base on plant has no life. life is life, no matter which form of it.
i agree completely
When animals eat animals, they do so to survive. When humans eat animals, they are doing so simply because it is easier or because they like the taste. They are harming animals not from necessity, but for pleasure. (Excluding small proportion of people who need meat in their diet for health reasons). No other animal raises their prey in miserable, confined conditions for the entirety of its life, even though there are other food options staring them in the face. It’s not simply that the animals are dying in the end, it’s that these farm animals live their ENTIRE lives in misery just to appease our tastebuds.
First of all, I could debunk every single one of your arguments. Why don’t i?
1. How is not eating meat not saving animal’s lives? Your argument for that makes no sense and also, the amount of things it takes to produce meat is substantial. 2,500 gallons of water are used to produce a single pound of meat. Cows consume 16 pounds of vegetation in order to convert them to a single pound of meat.. Producing ONE hamburger uses enough fossil fuel to run a car for 20 miles. Slaughterhouses generate more waste than a city containing 12,000 people. Not to mention, the world’s cows ALONE consume a quantity of food equal to the caloric needs of about 8.7 BILLION people, which exceeds the world’s population.
2. Eating meat has PROVEN to cause cancer. It clogs arteries, contains ridiculous amounts of cholesterol and saturated fat that also leads to diabetes and heart disease. You can’t actually say that there’s no proof of eating a vegan or vegetarian diet is healthy. We get more protein out of leafy green vegetables than you get out of eating a steak. We get more calcium out of beans, greens, and soy products than you get out of drinking milk (which by the way, is red from blood when first coming out of a cow’s udder and also contains feces and pus).
3. There are COUNTLESS vegan and vegetarian recipes that taste so much better than your burger filled with cancer and loaded with clogged arteries. Trust me. This one is a no brainer. We can pretty much eat everything you eat, minus the meat. This includes pizza, burgers, nuggets, pastas, steaks, and so on. The only difference is, they’re cruelty free and taste better!!
4. Your soil theory is a bit of a reach. If you are vegetarian, you consume animal byproducts such as cheese and eggs, which really doesn’t help the cause. But if you are vegan like myself, we don’t consume ANY of that stuff. Keep reaching.
In conclusion, us vegans and vegetarians are helping the environment and saving lives. What could be better? Nice try on this article though!!
Yup the guy is clearly a misinformed idiot… lol every single point easily debunkable with peer reviewed journals and meta-analyses
I am a farmer and all of these “facts” you stated are all untrue…stupid
And here is a clear example of a self righteous vegan. All you’re doing is just enforcing stereotypes about vegans and making all vegans look bad. In all honesty who gives a shit what you eat.
1. Do you think a predator should care about killing a prey it needs to stay alive and how can you compare a hamburger to falafel or a salad? Also most of those measurements are too high and you should stop exaggerating. And you do realize what fossil fuel is and how it was made.
2. And alot of vegetables are poisonous if you don’t cook them correctly so your point is invalid. Also it’s obvious you don’t know how breast work have never milked a cow, and probably weren’t breast fed.
3.Clogged arteries and cancer. Seriously. The older you get, the higher your chances of getting cancer and this can be reduced drastically by having a balanced diet(which can include meat!!), exercising, and not smoking. There are a bunch of other things to factor in as well that don’t relate to meat.
Also if you vegan hate meat so much then stop trying to intimidate foods that primarily require meat and how can you even compare a steak or something to something made of chickpeas and other shit.
4.I see why even alot of vegetarians don’t like you guys. It’s not just food that contains animal products, but things such as soap, shampoo and alot of other products which I’m sure you use. Reached.
Come back to reality and this time without the superiority complex and stick up your ass you impudent prick.
A few facts of the day: The areas you live in used to be homes for other animals. Plants are living things. You guys also like to whine about people eating things that exploit animals when humans are animals and are exploited everyday so the next time you eat anything remember that the only reason you have it is because of an animal being exploited. For us to grow food and live alot of animals lose their homes. You guys aren’t helping the environment in any way in all honesty.
In conclusion, if you guys are going to stop animals from being exploited then why don’t you set an example for the rest of us by going to live in a place that’s not earth since you don’t want to take animals “homes” and stop eating since you don’t want lives to be taken.
@To obviously uninformed vegans
I notice you failed to include any solid facts on how “You guys (vegans) aren’t helping the environment in any way in all honesty”.
Farm animals don’t become fully grown out of thin air. They are fed massive amounts of soy and grain. I believe 50% of soy in the U.S. is fed to cows alone, and 70% of U.S. grain fed to livestock. Also, of all the agricultural land in the U.S., 80% is used to raise animals for food and grow grain to feed them. Take away point: vegans/vegetarians ARE making a difference. We aren’t claiming to be perfect, we are just trying to create LESS harm and environmental injustice to mother nature.
To feed an animal is different than a human. That is why we need balance diet. How many % of animal food are made from human food? They use easy/low standard food which require less harm to the environment. plant human food is a big different form planting grass for cows. if we all goes for fresh salad, we may need to turn the whole earth into farm land.
Will vegetarians eat whatever plants? No, they are not. they maybe even pickier than others. You pick the kind you need for balance nutrition. Many of them wants only fresh/good looking/organic vegetable. The pickier you are, the more land require to plant them. It means more harm to the environment too. Did you think about where the leftover vegetable/soy plants will go when you are eating your fresh salad and tofu burger? Many of them are used to make animal food. So, farming animal a part of converting the waste into food. 4% of vegetarian may not make you feel the harm you have done too. I am not talking eating meat won’t harm. If all goes meatless, you will harm more than a balance diet.
Take away point: Balance.
I disagree that being vegan is superior to eating a balanced diet. I don’t care if you don’t eat meat because it keeps the cost of steaknowledge down for me. taste is an opinion. but I would say on a bell curve, more people will choose a burger over a vegan dish. having tasted many vegan dishes, there are very few I like. Also supply and demand kind of confirm that in general people prefer the taste of meat. my grandmother’s caretaker is vegan, she published a vegan cookbook, it’s not bad, but it’s much better to substitute meat in her reciepes, I say the more that convert to veganism, the more meat there is for me.
I was agreeing with you until you said even if you are vegetarian for religious purposes you should question your belief bitch how dare you insult my religion people can eat whatever they want you can’t control them . I have three words to say.
FUCK YOU KEITH
I find it ignorant that you say don’t be vegetarian like people can’t whatever they want your like a controlling crazy ex that tells you to get back with them
ya know that “pus and blood and e coli” in the milk that’s what pasteurization is for and why do u believe that calves are killed for milk cows are milked for the fresh milk to kick start the calf and colostrum to boost them even more and the cows get a break for at least a month to recover. some finishing words for ya stupid vegans WHY DID GOD PUT ANIMALS ON THIS EARTH? ARE THEY JUST DECORATIONS TO LOOK PRETTY IM EATING ALL MY MEAT SCREW YOUR SALADS
Why did God make your dog out of meat? SCREW YOUR COMPANION ANIMAL, I AM EATING YOUR DOG!
In industrial farming many mother cows are separated from young (after being artificially inseminated) and milked in a voracious manner. This stressful and traumatic process not only truncates their lifespan but also creates an awful life for the animal. I certainly don’t believe that we are so above animals that we can put them through hell and back to enjoy their meat for taste. No, animals weren’t put on this earth solely to be eaten, nor were they put here to be “decorations.” Believe it or not animals have their own lives and social structures, and every organism fulfills a niche within their ecosystem!
Dear, God is an invention of humans by humans for humans, so ofcourse what “God says” is what is convenient for humans. mu naive little friend.
Keith… maybe read a book once in a while.
You’ve made yourself look like a complete tool by writing this post. You’ve clearly made no effort to actually research what you’re talking about, and have instead just written a bunch of drivel to help justify your own reasons for causing unnecessary suffering and death.
Come on pal, wake up. It’s 2016. Get with it.
Somebody debunked this idiot about eating animals for survival. In all honesty, I was once a carnist as Dr. Melany Joy puts it; a person who ate certain animals but not others. In much of the world, eating animals are not required, and therefore a choice and choices are based on belief. I had an unsettling ideal that I could pet my dog and cat as a kid but would eat a cow a pig or chicken for instance, and it took a long time before I saw and questioned myself why is it that other cultures ate the same animals that I loved and petted as a child.
A paradime shift occured shortly after I was out at a farm and interacted with the animals I once called food and when I drew the connection that individuals were subjucted to being raised for slaughter for none other than taste preference. If you look at biological similarities between frugivores and humans you see unsettling close resemblances between the two as opposed to being an onmivore. It was silly but as a child I took a litmus test papers and spat on them and it turned blue, however it was different because I learned not too long prior that omnivores and carnivores had acid saliva. I still remember asking my science teacher about how is it that we are omnivores when is it that we have alkaline saliva, and fingernails when you told us that omnivores have acid saliva fang teeth, sharp claws, and ate their flesh raw and bloody. The teacher was also a farmer who raised plants and animals for food so I believe now that she was biased towards her lifestyle (and how could you not when it is your livelihood) and said that we use tools, cook food and have much of it raised on farm.
I was still uneasy about eating animals especially after doing a research project about animal cruelty and I was introduced to an idea called factory farming. I had no idea what to think and since the vast majority of animals are raised this way as opposed to my teacher’s farm which allowed them outside, access to vets if needed and generally well taken care of.
Perceptions really started to shift and I started researching the nutritional side of going meat free. (I nixed the dairy and eggs years later but that included another shift) I found I can get my iron, protein and calcium from legumes and leafy greens, vitamin A from leafy greens and obviously carrots. I read in numerous studies that humans, like other frugivores can efficiently create much of these other nutrients from their precursors, especially when combined with other nutrients (there is a huge list of vitamins that when combined with others have a synergizing effect on absorption) and had later convinced those who raised me that yes, I can be healthy without consuming these products that I was raised to think was necessary. I no longer had to justify consuming animals because of health reasons and I can live authentically and by my values. I don’t have to support such a barbaric practice that is the animal agraculture. I don’t need to use the primitive minds of the neanderthals to justify my moral compass. Just as most believe eating babies is wrong, as is rape and racism. I personally don’t need to justify the consumption of certain animals, putting the earth at stake as arguably animal agriculture requires much more plants to be grown to sustain these animals and it takes by far more land (cowspiracy states the figure to be 18x more land) to consume a standard diet with meat as opposed to a vegan diet as well as 91% of the amazon rainforest destruction is for growing animals as well as the food they need to grow.
You’re still healthy to eat meat that isn’t abnormally greasy, you’re still healthy if you eat nicely grilled chicken, steak, or salmon. You vegans and vegetarians are wasting your time though unless its for religious purposes. Its unrealistic to think that you alone or your family can make a difference in the poultry industry. There are 7.125 Billion people on the earth and 4% of that population is vegetarian. I absolutely guarantee that makes zero difference at all in the amount of animals that are killed every day. But I guess if it just makes YOU feel better that you aren’t eating it, well whatever, fine, but don’t get it in your head that you’re helping prevent it at all.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has”.
-Margaret Mead
That 4% does make a difference…The same rule applies to so many aspects of life, all I see in your comment is that of a pessimistic voice who has no hope for this world.
wow, awesome article.Much thanks again. Want more.
You do realize there are more vegetarians and vegans than the United States and Canada put together? If we were one nation, we’d be the most progressive the world has ever seen.
according to your title , i will never read this kind of articles or websites. very impolite!
wow. “Fuck you peta”. very very mature.
You’re calling little kids idiots because the care about animals? I’m fricking 12 and im vegan. Our Out of everything else horrible going on in my life, being a vegan and knowing that I’m saving animals is the only thing that makes me happy… And the thing about us eating animals, that’s called the fricking circle of life, idiot! The animals that yall eat are getting the throats slit in slaughterhouses! You are making fun of people’s way of life, not what they eat. That’s like calling a religion ‘not normal’ because it’s different than y’alls religion.Yall only pick on us because you thing we live this way to make yall feel guilty. You just want a reason to pick on little 12 year old girls.
You are killing animals you twat!
I was doing some research for a paper and came across this. I knew from reading the title of the post that it was going to be bad. The internet has made it possible for thoughtless and misinformed to act as though they are an authority on a subject. One of your points is “You can’t eat meat”? Is that supposed to convince me that you have a valid point? You said yourself that you hardly pay attention in your studies. People like you shouldn’t even be going to class. It’s a waste. Close-minded lazy idiots like you should keep shoveling in all the meat you want. Have at it!People like you are the reason for so many environmental problems, cruelty to animals and people (yes, they hire unskilled laborers, many times illegal immigrants in the factory farms and slaughterhouses), and wealth disparity… Big agriculture has many problems, as well. Most vegans that I know, however, grow their own food or buy from local farmers. Most of us are not trying to force our lifestyle on others. I don’t ever want to eat meat after the horrible things I have learned about the industry.
I’m a partial vegetarian. I only eat meat that I make myself (if I ever do make it myself) because I don’t trust the way it’s prepared. I’m a hypochondriac and I am super anxious about contracting some sort of disease from the animal, or salmonella, or parasite from improperly stored/prepared food. 🙁
You are a special kind of ignorant. Do your research before posting on the internet, or else you come off as a complete idiot.
Wow are you a middle school kid? do some research before you post. What a bullshit is this? at least you didn’t learn your biology..
