Note: This post is not meant to target those who are vegetarians for religious reasons or those who are vegetarians because they have some chronic disease that doesn’t allow them to eat meat. Instead, I’m targeting every single idiot out there who is a vegetarian for reasons like animal cruelty and health benefits.
Edit 9/10/14: Alright time to clear some air here. I started FitMole back in June 2011 and wrote this article in Aug 2011. Back when I started the blog I was trying to discover the best way to generate more traffic. So I thought to myself, “what’s the best way to get people talking?” So I came up with this article and the slightly edgy, and some might even call immature headline. And yes, I know the article can be seen as a bit offensive and ignorant. I still stand by my claims 100% that going vegetarian isn’t healthier than eating meat, but I do take full responsibility for some of the slightly ignorant comments I’ve made about animal cruelty. Other than that, can the person who keeps sending me death threat emails stop now 🙂
First off I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I normally don’t swear in the post title, but I just have to emphasize how stupid it is to become a vegetarian. It’s stupid, ridiculous, unnecessary, stupid, and did I mention it’s FUCKING stupid.
I have a couple of friends and family members that are vegetarians, and don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them. I just can’t understand why they decided to follow this lifestyle.
When I ask them why they decided to become a vegetarian, they give me reasons like “Oh, it makes me feel good,” “Because meat is bad for your health,” or “I don’t want to harm animals.” Whenever I hear these reasons, I just put on my best “nod and pretend to agree with you” face.

So why is becoming a vegetarian stupid? Lets take a look:
1) You aren’t saving the lives of animals
I get it. You don’t like it when the heads of baby cows and pigs are chopped off, but do you really think eating that tofu burger is saving lives.
Fruits, vegetables, and grains are a staple among vegetarian diets, but did you know that millions of animals die just so you can enjoy that piece of bread? Eating foods like grains means destroying ecosystems and all of its inhabitants. It means killing all the little animals, birds, bugs, and microorganisms that live among the fields.
Do you know how many little animals and microorganisms die when farmers use machines to plow through wheat fields? The answer is a lot more than 1 cow.
As cheesy as it sounds, everything in life requires sacrifice. Animals are killed to get meat and ecosystems are destroyed to get grains. So the next time I’m eating a steak, don’t you dare judge me for killing a cow.
2) There is absolutely zero scientific proof showing that going vegetarian is healthy
When I want to believe something, I need proof. I need definite scientific proof.
And no, proof doesn’t mean reading a quote in Shape or MensHealth magazine. In order to convince me about anything I need to see a scientific study that shows causation not correlation.
For example, eating less food will make you loss weight. This is a stone cold fact that will remain true no matter what.
However, there is absolutely ZERO proof showing that going vegetarian will decrease your risk of heart disease, cancer, or whatever nasty stuff you can think of.
The only thing we have are thousands of studies showing a correlation between an increased risk of disease and an increase in meat consumption. We have studies that conclude that eating meat “may increase” your risk of heart disease, but this doesn’t mean crap. It’s inconclusive and doesn’t prove anything. Saying that your risk of heart disease “may increase” from eating red meat is like saying you “may” be able to breath fire if you eat enough jalapenos.
And yes, before you get all crazy on me, I have read the China Study a.k.a the vegetarian’s wet dream. For those who don’t know, the China Study was a big study conducted by Dr. Campbell who basically concluded that meat is killer.
While the China Study garnered a ton of media attention a couple years ago, it is also an incredibly flawed study despite it’s massive scale. But talking about all the flaws in the China Study is beyond the scope of this article, so let me turn you over to a great article written by Denise Minger of Raw Food SOS. She did an amazing job in analyzing the China Study and basically debunked every single aspect of it.
People need to stop believing the mainstream media, and need to start looking at the actual research and facts.
[The leaders of anti-vegetarians]
3) You don’t get to eat meat
I know this is a bit obvious, but being a vegetarian means that you don’t get to eat meat. EVER. That means no steak, bacon, horse, or BBQ ribs. The closest thing you’ll ever get to meat is some glued together crap made of wheat and soy.
And please, don’t tell me that your veggie burger tastes better than my double bacon cheeseburger, okay? Don’t tell me “Oh, but it tastes just like the real thing.” No it doesn’t, you rationalizing crazy person. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, a piece of tofu will never taste as good as a greasy piece of beef.
So if vegetarians are so concerned about their health, then why do they opt for highly processed foods likes breads and cereals that are not found in nature as opposed to real animal meat which has been around since…. forever. It makes no freakin sense.
4) Vegetarians are actually eating animals without knowing it!
This past summer, I took a Biology 101 class at a community college to fulfill some general education requirements for my degree. While the class was a complete waste of my time and I pretty much bull-shitted my way through it, I did learn something quite interesting.
I learned about the food web, which is basically description of “who eats who” in the environment.
It goes something like this:
fox eats rabbit => fox poops into the soil => the living soil then absorbs the poop(which includes the rabbit) => fruit and vegetable plants absorb that exact same soil to grow => humans eat those same fruits and vegetables
This process happens EVERYWHERE in nature.
So even if you’re a vegetarian, you’re technically eating dead animals, albeit in a more indirect liquid form. But last time I checked, vegetarians were all about saving lives no matter what.
Don’t be a vegetarian
Despite everything you’ve heard, vegetarians are NOT the health conscious animal saving saints that they’re made out to be.
Instead, vegetarians:
- Support the destruction of ecosystems to obtain their food
- Kill millions of small animals, bugs, and microorganisms
- Aren’t saving their health since there’s absolutely zero scientific proof showing that meat is bad for you
- Are actually eating meat without knowing it
- Are simply misinformed about every aspect of the vegetarian lifestyle
So if you’re a vegetarian, then hopefully I’ve done my job to piss you off beyond belief, and if I converted you, then that’s cool too.
Once again, the only reason why you should be a vegetarian is for religious reasons or because you have a some chronic disease that doesn’t allow you to eat meat. But even if you’re a vegetarian for religious reasons, you might want to start questioning the logic behind your beliefs, just saying.
Alright guys, be sure to share this article with every single vegetarian you know, and to close out this article I have 3 parting words:
FUCK YOU PETA

Makes no sense. Yes, land is needed for plants to feed vegs but incomparably ess land and water (!!!) than needed to grow dozens of billions (!!!) animals killed each year.
The only way your headline makes sense is that it’s pointless to be vegetarian because the only way is to be VEGAN. Just watched a video of a mother Cow desperately trying to protect her baby from being dragged away from her and sent to a veal farm (that’s a typical occurrence at any dairy farm.) You should see this video. It’s horriying. At the end, they lassoed the baby no matter how much the mother tried to protect him and dragged him , with him being on the ground face down, as she desperately tried to run after it and cried and cried and cried.
Get your head out of your ass and stop saying nonsense.
You wrote this because at heart you know eating meat is murder. If you didnt know it deep within you you wouldn’t be writing it.
It’s like people who are not jealous of a famous person’s fame and wealth are not going to comment crap on articles about them. But those who do say bad things about celebs are usually people who ARE jealous.
GOD it makes me cry with laughter every time i read the next sentence. Is he bloody well thick. No one on earth could get more stupid then him. He just cant be bothered like most people on the planet who cant face the truth that being vegan is so much healthier. These people do it because they love meat too much. Such selfish reasons for being a bloody meat eater. RESPECT OTHERS FOR WHAT IS RIGHT SO NOT DISRESPECT THEM BECAUSE DEEP DOWN YOU KNOW YOUR FUCKING WRONG!!!!
When you have to take supplements to get iron and calcium that you can normally get from milk or meat and are supporting big corporations that are payed by shoving pills down the throats of people who think that all killings of animals is cruelty, come talk to me. I’ll tell you all about deer hunting.
There’s no need for Vegans either.
What in the world do you think even causes heart disease? Sugar? Salt? You must not even understand what heart disease fundamentally is; excess cholesterol becomes artery plaque. Name me even ONE account of a vegan having excess cholesterol and coming down with heart disease and I’ll be severely impressed. While I don’t know whether the body is necessarily ‘wise’, it’s not dumb enough to produce its own excess cholesterol. Veganism prevents heart disease, whether you like it or not. Jesus, can’t you just admit that? Why does it bruise your ego so much to admit it? Is it because you have so few arguments against veganism that if even one is annihilated, you are left THAT weak? Whoa. Dude, if you even TRIED, you could be capable of admitting that and yet still having the ability to argue that veganism is a bad diet anyway because of all the shit you could find against it counteracting against its prevention of heart disease, making the benefits of being an omnivore outweigh the risks…. but nah, you just pulled this argument out your ass on the whim.
Also, that photo you showed to try to prove how meat tastes better? It’s tipped towards your bias. The meat is cooked, but the potatos aren’t, the broccoli and the carrots are raw. Would eating raw meat sound appealing to you? Probably not. So at least make a fair comparison and display COOKED vegan food. Nobody fuckin’ eats raw potatoes, just like nobody fucking eats raw meat.
Obviously you’ve been living under rock for awhile.STEAK TARTAR.Also known as rare.
Read up on soy and tofu products and how they are made/farmed. Look up how hunting deer in the Midwest keeps the environment from being destroyed. There are lots more to be said that vegan is or vegetarianism is just as bad as being an omnivore. Why are you all hypocrites and saying that only meat eaters are in the wrong. You can eat meat, while still eating healthy other foods, be environmentally conscious, and not be in support of animal cruelty, but no one ever talks about that. Just because I eat a burger once in a while doesn’t mean I’m going to get heart disease, support mass killings of animals for demand of their products, and destroy the environment. I eat venison for crying out loud. I’m helping the environment, not supporting animal cruelty!
Sounds like someone has roid rage.
Don’t matter to me either way what people think is better …. just give me my bloody steak when I want one.
Land is used to grow crops that then feed animals. Therefore you use more land to raise animals than you do to produce only crops. How stupid is this article?!
Hate to say it, but you sound a bit ignorant in this. People can be blinded by love for something, and they can be blinded by hate.
That’s well and good, but there are many vegetarians that are blinded by what they see on the media or a website. Hunting certain animals isn’t animal cruelty, mass produced farming is. Hunting in humane and helps with population regulation of an overpopulated species. We should all educate ourselves on both sides of the story.
Honestly, I sounded a lot like you when I was younger. However, the more we see of the world and the more we educate ourselves, the more we tend to realize how the structures around us built by generations of behaviour determine what is ‘normal’ and what isn’t. Why don’t you eat your dog or cat? Because of what you’ve been taught is normal and natural. I promise that you have the ability and courage to change these structures within your own life with enough hard work and an open mind! Take a class at your community college on critical thinking (focus on logical fallacies- particularly confirmation bias) … you can still defend the ethics of meat eating once you’ve acquired those skills, but I bet you’ll have a laugh, if not cringe at this article.
For the record, I don’t think nearly failing community college biology 101 gives you the expertise needed to interpret scientific studies. That said, I’m guessing you didn’t do too well in econ 101 either, but we’ll find out for sure with a test: If you demand dead animals, animals must be killed in order to deliver supply, therefor, what happens if you reduce or eliminate your demand for dead animals? Yes, the animals will likely be killed anyway to meet other’s demand, but you will not be culpable for their death, and ultimately less death will be demanded from the factory farming system, even if it is marginal.
I am only criticizing you here because while you may be promoting this message solely for more website traffic, your visitors (who are here absorbing exclusively pseudoscience), may not be able to make that differentiation.
You sound like a future vegan to me.
Just wanted to say I love this. He makes all the points we were thinking while reading this
I had a good time reading this article. A few good laughs. It makes my day seeing someone so ignorant and I don’t even have the energy to state how wrong you are since there’s tons of information on the internet and multiple documentaries.
I hope you get cancer and die at 40.
It’s quite funny how vegans seem to be some of the most hateful people on the planet. They seem to care so much about the lives and rights of animals, but they don’t extend that feeling towards other people with whom they interact with.
I usually don’t respond to people like you because it’s a waste of time and kind of like beating a dead horse. Your judgement and misguided “knowledge” is scientifically, indisputably, fundamentally, and literally wrong. The fact that you base your information and recommendations off of “information of the Internet and documentaries,” proves that your ignorance exceeds your intellect. Mainstream media outlets do not have your best interest in mind, and they depend of people such as yourself to feed their loose rhetoric into a false reality.
Listen, I’m not trying to hate on you, but…you just wished a person to die of cancer at 40. Your flat out disrespectful, irrational disregard for other people is proof of an existence below the threshold of natural existence. You are, simply put: a disruption of nature. While your veganism may seem like the most humane and rationale choice for health and environmental reasons…it’s not.
I urge you, and those alike, to genuinely put forth an effort to educate yourselves and those around without using your hate speech at the expense of others. In fact, it’s scary to think that there are more people in our world that think this way through ingornace and misunderstanding. Isn’t your whole life founded on “tolerance and acceptance?”
Oh by the way, you would not exist if our ancestors did not hunt, harvest, and eat animals. You would have been one of the weak that was disregarded during the winter.
Fun fact: saturated fat sourced from animals is necessary for proper brain function.
Maybe this is why you can’t think clearly.
Got to go, there’s a deer in the field.
Stop pointing fingers you hypocrite! Let’s hope you die from malnutrition because you haven’t gotten a gram of protein eating processed soy and tofu the rest of your life.
This is hands down the best article I have ever read.
Hey, it sure would do all of us a favor to not ridicule people who value life as much as you do? We have our own dietary choices, so you can’t do anything about that. Our minds are obviously not changing, sir. I hope you find out how much easier it is to stop judging, and maybe even learn how to try to see from our perspective and see that we are trying to be compassionate, before you perform an uncalled for act of ridicule and harsh judgement against us. Thank you.
There are many vegetarians that’s judge meat eaters for their life’s voices so let’s not be hypocrites about all this. I don’t need to feel bad for eating meat just as much as you don’t need to be judged for eating tofu, which I have tried before and it’s pretty good, either.
Switch to Soylent, it’s healthier and more convenient
Vegan should piss off back to their anti trump/pro Clinton rallies with all their dope, tree hugging moon maiden ways. Go float away vegan/veggies!
your so dumb haha
This is an awesome article. Being a vegan nearly destroyed my health and frankly, there are very few vegans I’ve come across who are not legitimately bat-shit crazy lunatics. Just check out the famous vegans on YouTube and you’ll see what I’m talking about. There’s one chick named Freelee the Banana Girl who thinks meat eaters should be killed. That’s pretty much everyone on the planet. So…. she wants to genocide humans to save animals because she’s so compassionate??? WTF? LOL, god these people are nuts!
Ok, as a vegetarian this has done a horrible job at convincing me to go back to meat. All I have to say about this abundantly ignorant article is who freaking cares. You don’t want to give up meat? Great do whatever the heck you want, does not make a difference to anyone but you. Vegetarians are at least doing SOMETHING to help the environment and whatever other reasons they choose. You stay on your side of the world, we’ll stay on ours.
Says the person that’s is taking in soy products that farmers are putting pesticides and herbicides all over just to make a product. Yes I am all for saving the environment from big corporations that want to exploit it for their own gain, but you have to be realistic in where you are getting your non-meat products. Tofu and soy are processed goods that aren’t any better that the shit at McDonald’s. I have a couple of friends that are vegetarians and one tried to tell me that you don’t have to eat meat to be healthy. Well to that: you don’t have to be a vegetarian to be healthy either. Meat has a great source of iron and protein. Yes eating burgers every other day isn’t healthy but eating chicken and venison is a healthier option, and they do taste good. As to not killing animals, in some cases hunting is a must. In the case of deer, if they weren’t hunted they would overpopulated their environment and it would be destroyed. Hey are already an overpopulated species and need to be hunted. I’m not saying start hunting every animal that you can, as I don’t hunt myself, but my family does. I also don’t believe that there aren’t any scientific research done to say that being a vegetarian is a healthier option, because it can be. There are many ways to be healthy and excluding meat from your diet is just one of the few.
So all in all, being a vegetarian is not bad, but many judge those who do eat meat like they are heartless people out to destroy the environment. We can compromise with each other.
Dear Maddy,
I have never gone to dinner with you, let alone met you. For all I know you could be a monkey on a computer so I am not sure where you are getting the assumptions that I eat soy. So please do not assume you know anything about my diet besides the fact that it is vegetarian. I am not going to take the time to address everything you brought up in your reply, because I am time limited. But one of the most frustrating things as a vegetarian is when people say things like “oh yeah, I’d go vegetarian but I play a sport I need my protein.” Well technically no, ya don’t. There is such thing as getting TOO much protein which can lead to diseases and other health issues that I do not want to divulge into (ya know, the time thing). There are many other health risks that come with eating meat and theres many that come with not eating meat. We are all going to die so I see no point in ridiculing and downgrading those that identify as vegetarian. When i made the switch to the meatless life, it was the most rewarding thing. This is a personal thing i do this for me myself and I, I like how i am not tired after meals, i am more energetic, less depressed, and the idea that i am saving some animals and at least trying to help the environment out
Also all the supporting research is there for ya on the internet, just one click away 🙂
Dear Katie,
Im guessing that being a vegeterian is your choice. You don`t have to eat meat, or even use milk and other products produced by animalS. Like you said, everybody need to stay on their sides.
Main problem is that a lot of Vegans, not vegeterian, VEGANS, Many of them harass and condemn and even physical assaults on people who eat meat, wear fur…ETC. No one can force you to not eat meat, wears fur…And how world works today, nothing of that wont stop forever. No way.
For all VEGANS, all of them doesn`t think that a lot of rodents are killed in order to grow plant foods. Think about that. A thousands and thousands of animals must die for the sake of your salads, wheat, apple. So we get to one thing, stop beening fashionista and live your choices like you want, but let other to choose what they want. Noone is VEGAN if we can calculate that in every industry animals dies anyway.
Ivy, you bring up good points and I get that some vegans can be a real pain in the ass. But no matter what when you put a group of people that are passionate about the same thing together, its bound that some are going to take it too far. All I know is that going vegetarian was the best decision I have ever made and I am sorry if some vegans have scared you off of the lifestyle and can be ignorant.
