4 Reasons Why Becoming A Vegetarian Is A Fucking Stupid Idea

October 5, 2014 | 1674 Comments

Note: This post is not meant to target those who are vegetarians for religious reasons or those who are vegetarians because they have some chronic disease that doesn’t allow them to eat meat. Instead, I’m targeting every single idiot out there who is a vegetarian for reasons like animal cruelty and health benefits.

Edit 9/10/14: Alright time to clear some air here. I started FitMole back in June 2011 and wrote this article in Aug 2011. Back when I started the blog I was trying to discover the best way to generate more traffic. So I thought to myself, “what’s the best way to get people talking?” So I came up with this article and the slightly edgy, and some might even call immature headline. And yes, I know the article can be seen as a bit offensive and ignorant. I still stand by my claims 100% that going vegetarian isn’t healthier than eating meat, but I do take full responsibility for some of the slightly ignorant comments I’ve made about animal cruelty. Other than that, can the person who keeps sending me death threat emails stop now 🙂

First off I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I normally don’t swear in the post title, but I just have to emphasize how stupid it is to become a vegetarian. It’s stupid, ridiculous, unnecessary, stupid, and did I mention it’s FUCKING stupid.

I have a couple of friends and family members that are vegetarians, and don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them. I just can’t understand why they decided to follow this lifestyle.

When I ask them why they decided to become a vegetarian, they give me reasons like “Oh, it makes me feel good,” “Because meat is bad for your health,” or “I don’t want to harm animals.” Whenever I hear these reasons, I just put on my best “nod and pretend to agree with you” face.

So why is becoming a vegetarian stupid? Lets take a look:

1) You aren’t saving the lives of animals

I get it. You don’t like it when the heads of baby cows and pigs are chopped off, but do you really think eating that tofu burger is saving lives.

Fruits, vegetables, and grains are a staple among vegetarian diets, but did you know that millions of animals die just so you can enjoy that piece of bread? Eating foods like grains means destroying ecosystems and all of its inhabitants. It means killing all the little animals, birds, bugs, and microorganisms that live among the fields.

Do you know how many little animals and microorganisms die when farmers use machines to plow through wheat fields? The answer is a lot more than 1 cow.

As cheesy as it sounds, everything in life requires sacrifice. Animals are killed to get meat and ecosystems are destroyed to get grains. So the next time I’m eating a steak, don’t you dare judge me for killing a cow.

2) There is absolutely zero scientific proof showing that going vegetarian is healthy

When I want to believe something, I need proof. I need definite scientific proof.

And no, proof doesn’t mean reading a quote in Shape or MensHealth magazine. In order to convince me about anything I need to see a scientific study that shows causation not correlation.

For example, eating less food will make you loss weight.  This is a stone cold fact that will remain true no matter what.

However, there is absolutely ZERO proof showing that going vegetarian will decrease your risk of heart disease, cancer, or whatever nasty stuff you can think of.

The only thing we have are thousands of studies showing a correlation between an increased risk of disease and an increase in meat consumption. We have studies that conclude that eating meat “may increase” your risk of heart disease, but this doesn’t mean crap. It’s inconclusive and doesn’t prove anything. Saying that your risk of heart disease “may increase” from eating red meat is like saying you “may” be able to breath fire if you eat enough jalapenos.

And yes, before you get all crazy on me, I have read the China Study a.k.a the vegetarian’s wet dream. For those who don’t know, the China Study was a big study conducted by Dr. Campbell who basically concluded that meat is killer.

While the China Study garnered a ton of media attention a couple years ago, it is also an incredibly flawed study despite it’s massive scale. But talking about all the flaws in the China Study is beyond the scope of this article, so let me turn you over to a great article written by Denise Minger of Raw Food SOS. She did an amazing job in analyzing the China Study and basically debunked every single aspect of it.

People need to stop believing the mainstream media, and need to start looking at the actual research and facts.

3) You don’t get to eat meat

I know this is a bit obvious, but being a vegetarian means that you don’t get to eat meat. EVER. That means no steak, bacon, horse, or BBQ ribs. The closest thing you’ll ever get to meat is some glued together crap made of wheat and soy.

And please, don’t tell me that your veggie burger tastes better than my double bacon cheeseburger, okay? Don’t tell me “Oh, but it tastes just like the real thing.” No it doesn’t, you rationalizing crazy person. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, a piece of tofu will never taste as good as a greasy piece of beef.

So if vegetarians are so concerned about their health, then why do they opt for highly processed foods likes breads and cereals that are not found in nature as opposed to real animal meat which has been around since…. forever. It makes no freakin sense.

4) Vegetarians are actually eating animals without knowing it!

This past summer, I took a Biology 101 class at a community college to fulfill some general education requirements for my degree. While the class was a complete waste of my time and I pretty much bull-shitted my way through it, I did learn something quite interesting.

I learned about the food web, which is basically description of “who eats who” in the environment.

It goes something like this:

fox eats rabbit => fox poops into the soil => the living soil then absorbs the poop(which includes the rabbit) => fruit and vegetable plants absorb that exact same soil to grow => humans eat those same fruits and vegetables

This process happens EVERYWHERE in nature.

So even if you’re a vegetarian, you’re technically eating dead animals, albeit in a more indirect liquid form. But last time I checked, vegetarians were all about saving lives no matter what.

Don’t be a vegetarian

Despite everything you’ve heard, vegetarians are NOT the health conscious animal saving saints that they’re made out to be.

Instead, vegetarians:

  • Support the destruction of ecosystems to obtain their food
  • Kill millions of small animals, bugs, and microorganisms
  • Aren’t saving their health since there’s absolutely zero scientific proof showing that meat is bad for you
  • Are actually eating meat without knowing it
  • Are simply misinformed about every aspect of the vegetarian lifestyle

So if you’re a vegetarian, then hopefully I’ve done my job to piss you off beyond belief, and if I converted you, then that’s cool too.

Once again, the only reason why you should be a vegetarian is for religious reasons or because you have a some chronic disease that doesn’t allow you to eat meat. But even if you’re a vegetarian for religious reasons, you might want to start questioning the logic behind your beliefs, just saying.

Alright guys, be sure to share this article with every single vegetarian you know, and to close out this article I have 3 parting words:

FUCK YOU PETA

  1. And this is the outcome of American education. Fucking stupid. That animal didn’t die so i could just eat that bread, it died so you could stuff them into YOUR face, because you believe it’s necessary to have meat in your diet. YOU ARE a herbivore. Your teeth are designed for chewing and grinding plant food. We don’t slice meat with our teeth like carnivores. What’s so hard of understanding that?

    1. Actually we’re omnivorous. Front teeth can tear trough skin and shred meat, back teeth can grind up plants. Get educated.

  2. 1) You aren’t saving the lives of animals
***Yes, you are by not having any killed on your behalf.***

    2) There is absolutely zero scientific proof showing that going vegetarian is healthy
***there actually is. Heart disease us the #1 killer worldwide and is caused by fat in meat, dairy and processed
    oils.***

    3) You don’t get to eat meat
***But you will oearn to make meals that are just as good to your taste buds and you won’t even miss it after only a few months.***

    4) Vegetarians are actually eating animals without knowing it!
***true, but vegans do not and educate themselves as to understand that even eggs and milk consumption leads to the killing of newly born male cows for veal and male chickens at birth because they are unnecessary.
Over 1 million chickens are killed per hour in the US alone.***

..and you feel so much better.
GO VEGAN for 1 month as a new years resolution. 63% of you will stay vegan for life.

  3. Okay… did you seriously just tell people who don’t eat meat in the fault of their religion to check the logic behind their beleifs? You are a fucking jackass! It’s part of their goddamn religion! Listen, I know a lot of people who aren’t vegitariand despise vegitarians. Some are major meat lovers, I get it. Hell, I’m vegitarian and my best friend can’t get enough meat. But some people aren’t ignorant assholes who can’t just understand why someone is doing something, and that everyone had their own fucking beleifs. I, for one, am a person who lives with a dog and five cats. I even had a pet mouse at one point. So if you could tell, I’m a huge animal lover. But rewind a few years ago, we’d be having meatballed speghetti and stuff like pulled pork every night. The thought of becoming vegetarian never even crossed my mind. But now, I don’t like the feeling of eating an animal. And I’m not inconsiderate, I understand why people don’t become vegetarian, but I don’t hate them for it. And I sure as hell don’t hate on their relegion. Before I’m finished, I just want to let you know that in the past 6 months I’ve been vegitarian, I’ve lost 12 pounds. 12 fucking pounds. I don’t go to the gym, I don’t each much vegitables, but I lost 12 pounds. And I’m 5 feet tall. So, in conlusion, go fuck yourself animal killer.

  4. Cows do need a lot of extra organs to get ready with plants.
We are no cows – we need to eat meat.
Vegetarians have no education -in a good school you do learn about vitamins and calium. In a bad one you do not leran that.
Etremely funny when someone comes along with his educational papers applying for a ggod job-and than you ask for his private beliefs -and they come up with vegetarian……hahahahahahah, they can go home – or have a job for the poor.

The internet had done so much educational things in the past years-which now will be stopped by government I am sure-but I do wonder why noone learned about the important things in the net the last 20 years.
Call me rabbit -but I was sucking all knowledgethat I could get hold of out of the internet – one could really think I am a real M.D.and a taylor.
The knowlegde simply was there !!!!!!
It s a pity most of the poor just played games or were watching for the popstars ………the internet was once a great gift where anything was given as a present….

    1. You’re making a fool of yourself…Humans don’t require meat in their diet unless you have a disease. Educate yourself on this subject, you clearly know little.

      http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Vegetarianhealth/Pages/Vegetarianhealthhome.aspx

You claim that vegetarians don’t learn about vitamins because of bad education and get bad jobs, when it’s funny because in school you learn that you can get ALL minerals on a vegetarian diet! Clearly you are trying to sound smart when you are not.

(What has calcium got to do with meat? Calcium is barely in it!)

I have no idea how you got an M.D because you sound like a 4 year old trying to construct a simple sentence.

  5. Mate, if the purpose of this post is to get comments, then good on you.

I would recommend that you read some factual data before cursing and swearing away all this misinformation for shock value and attention seeking alone (you sure got mine for the worst reasons).

  6. I’m personally not vegan/vegetarian, but this is ridiculous.
I could write about all the points you have, but it’s gonna take me ages to mash up truth and feed it to you.

    To the second silly point;
Eating vegetables over greasy bacon obviously is good for you, isn’t this why you’re described as healthy for eating lots of them? This is common sense.
But since you clearly don’t own “common” sense, then tell your mom when she gets home tonight if she can say the reason why she always tells you to eat your vegetables. Maybe she can feed it to you with a baby spoon.

I hear a lot about how vegans are annoying and toxic, and sure some may be, since they believe in something so strong and don’t understand why people can’t see things from their perspective.
But I must say, the toxic and annoying people like you, who can’t think of seeing things another way, and if they don’t get it their way they get triggered

You also seem to think that vegans have a desire to eat meat and they are so jealous of your burger. If they were, don’t you think they would just eat meat? Again, common sense.

Check your damn facts. And gain some common sense.
Gå å pul mordi di jævla fitte❤️

  7. Wow, you are an idiot. Does eating tofu cause as much animal suffering as eating beef, pork, or chicken? No. Does producing grains consume as much water as producing meat? No. Does producing vegetables cause more green house gas production than animal farming? No sir!

  8. Using foul language in you article makes you look like a complete dimwit. There are much better ways to prove your point. Perhaps you just wrote this to get a bunch of responses so you can feel that someone in the world actually cares about you. If this is you usual vocabulary, maybe you can realize this is the reason you don’t have any friends.
Back to the article… I love how you say if someone doesn’t eat meat, “you’re a complete moron”. However, if you have some sort of religious fanaticism, everything is just fantastic! Your logic is of an elementary school child.

    1. Lol someone here is mad. I liked his article. But using unmoral words doesn’t really help but, I get his point. A balanced diet of both is ether way the healthiest. And meat helped us evolve so vegans might actually turn into apes one day 🙂

  9. All things eat each other in order for all things to continue eating each other. It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you, but what comes out. Everyone is on one extreme fighting the other without compromise reached. Why only eat vegetables? Why eat so much meat? Why not do both in a balanced way? All these theories about diet are based upon fear and nothing more. If one does perma-culture, one realizes that if no animals were killed and eaten then there would be no plants to care for. Insects, birds, lizards, amphibians, etc. are all important, but are all eaten by their predators to encourage the growth of habitat which encourages the growth of more life. If a herd a cows will not be eaten by a man, a lion will sure as well eat them all up! It is unfortunate that these cows do not travel like before and ruin the plots they are fenced behind…which is a lot of plots. Modern farming has also done incredible damage (even to the ocean) and we are blind to the solution, so what now? Both sides are mistaken and should come into compromise before the world crumbles to dust. Go outside and look at things without the tiresome process of modern rationality. Feed everything and make shelter for everything around you by planting more plants and then show us if the environment and nature is in any way important! If not, then continue with the endless battle of opposites in this synthetic place.

  10. You really blew my mind with lots of your statements but the gem is the one about the dead pooping fox who ate the rabbit but helped a plant grow which the vegetarian ate. Maybe we should make the vegetarian poop on the soil to avenge the death?

I came here for an honest critic on veganism but i guess its impossible to find any legit ones.

    1. If your Vegan/Vegetarian for your religous beliefs than that’s your perogative. (All religion is a light show btw)
People who a Vegan/Vegetarian sometimes like to quote Joel Furhman’s book Eat to Live. However I find it odd that Dr. Furhmanchose a book from the 80s for his source on how much protein is in a 100 calories of broccoli. Aside from obscuring the truth by using questionable data, the truth is obscured by using calories instead of volume because 100 calories of steak would be so much less than 100 calories of broccoli.Of the 20 Amino acids are body needs, we have to consume 9 of them. 8 of which is found in Broccoli, however they are of varying amounts and can form an incomplete protein as opposed to a quality protein. In order to get the same amount of incomplete protein for Broccoli as you would Quality Protein (Complete Protein) from a 6oz. steak you’d have to eat some 3 to 4 odd cups of broccoli a serving. To fill in those gaps to form Quality protein you would have to pair it with another food.

There’s nothing natural at all about free balling vitamin B-12 to satisfy dietary needs. In fact B-12 Hormone injections cause a short list of very dangerous side effects that are worse tan anything you could get from eating free range organic meat. Not to mention the chemical run off caused from producing said drugs is destroying the Eco system, and ass more people become vegetarian/vegan the chemical run off will become greater in correspondence with the need to fill the gap in more peoples diets.

People who are Vegan/Vegetarian like to use the “Slippery Slope” fallacy against meat eaters. Claiming that next they’re going to be eating other Humans. Example? Look trough these comments. It’s the same basis for the fallacy that Right Wingers used to try and block the Legalization of Homosexual Marriage in the United states. “If we let guys marry guys, and girls marry girls than the next ting you know people will want to marry animals and legalize bestiality, incest and Pedophilia.” All of it is ridiculous. A restriction of any food group is ridiculous. You need the Various Macro, and Micro nutrients from eating a VARIETY of foods in order to remain Healthy as long as possible.

  11. I’m a newly rising up-and-coming YouTuber and I am almost 80% carnivore. I only eat veggies to shit easier. I’ve been planning an anti-vegan rant video cos I’ve lost too many former-steak-loving-bacon-groveling-rib-eloping-close friends to this dastardly hipster trend. Nothing wrong with hipsters, I try to live a hipster life, but this vegan horseshoe is too much. Thanks so very much to the writer cos you just contributed an enormous amount to my research for my aforementioned rant video. Gotta make sure my facts are actually factual before ranting.

    1. Good luck with that- there is no proper factual evidence against vegetarianism unless you have a chronic disease or live in a poor country with no available options. All of the article’s points are moot and weakly constructed.

  12. The massive problem with your first point is that you have to use more a lot of land to get the grain to feed the cattle and then you have to use more land again to raise the cattle on. It takes much more land to get X amount of calories/nutrients from a cow than it would to get similar levels of calories/nutrients by directly using the vegetables or grain. So while we (somewhat unavoidably) still use land and damage ecosystems we use much less than if we raise and slaughter the animals. You accuse vegetarian/vegans of consuming unnatural foods, there is nothing natural about a selectively bred battery farmed turkey/chicken that has spent it’s life being force fed and injected with various hormones.
