4 Reasons Why Becoming A Vegetarian Is A Fucking Stupid Idea

October 5, 2014 | 1674 Comments

Note: This post is not meant to target those who are vegetarians for religious reasons or those who are vegetarians because they have some chronic disease that doesn’t allow them to eat meat. Instead, I’m targeting every single idiot out there who is a vegetarian for reasons like animal cruelty and health benefits.

Edit 9/10/14: Alright time to clear some air here. I started FitMole back in June 2011 and wrote this article in Aug 2011. Back when I started the blog I was trying to discover the best way to generate more traffic. So I thought to myself, “what’s the best way to get people talking?” So I came up with this article and the slightly edgy, and some might even call immature headline. And yes, I know the article can be seen as a bit offensive and ignorant. I still stand by my claims 100% that going vegetarian isn’t healthier than eating meat, but I do take full responsibility for some of the slightly ignorant comments I’ve made about animal cruelty. Other than that, can the person who keeps sending me death threat emails stop now 🙂

First off I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I normally don’t swear in the post title, but I just have to emphasize how stupid it is to become a vegetarian. It’s stupid, ridiculous, unnecessary, stupid, and did I mention it’s FUCKING stupid.

I have a couple of friends and family members that are vegetarians, and don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them. I just can’t understand why they decided to follow this lifestyle.

When I ask them why they decided to become a vegetarian, they give me reasons like “Oh, it makes me feel good,” “Because meat is bad for your health,” or “I don’t want to harm animals.” Whenever I hear these reasons, I just put on my best “nod and pretend to agree with you” face.

So why is becoming a vegetarian stupid? Lets take a look:

1) You aren’t saving the lives of animals

I get it. You don’t like it when the heads of baby cows and pigs are chopped off, but do you really think eating that tofu burger is saving lives.

Fruits, vegetables, and grains are a staple among vegetarian diets, but did you know that millions of animals die just so you can enjoy that piece of bread? Eating foods like grains means destroying ecosystems and all of its inhabitants. It means killing all the little animals, birds, bugs, and microorganisms that live among the fields.

Do you know how many little animals and microorganisms die when farmers use machines to plow through wheat fields? The answer is a lot more than 1 cow.

As cheesy as it sounds, everything in life requires sacrifice. Animals are killed to get meat and ecosystems are destroyed to get grains. So the next time I’m eating a steak, don’t you dare judge me for killing a cow.

2) There is absolutely zero scientific proof showing that going vegetarian is healthy

When I want to believe something, I need proof. I need definite scientific proof.

And no, proof doesn’t mean reading a quote in Shape or MensHealth magazine. In order to convince me about anything I need to see a scientific study that shows causation not correlation.

For example, eating less food will make you loss weight.  This is a stone cold fact that will remain true no matter what.

However, there is absolutely ZERO proof showing that going vegetarian will decrease your risk of heart disease, cancer, or whatever nasty stuff you can think of.

The only thing we have are thousands of studies showing a correlation between an increased risk of disease and an increase in meat consumption. We have studies that conclude that eating meat “may increase” your risk of heart disease, but this doesn’t mean crap. It’s inconclusive and doesn’t prove anything. Saying that your risk of heart disease “may increase” from eating red meat is like saying you “may” be able to breath fire if you eat enough jalapenos.

And yes, before you get all crazy on me, I have read the China Study a.k.a the vegetarian’s wet dream. For those who don’t know, the China Study was a big study conducted by Dr. Campbell who basically concluded that meat is killer.

While the China Study garnered a ton of media attention a couple years ago, it is also an incredibly flawed study despite it’s massive scale. But talking about all the flaws in the China Study is beyond the scope of this article, so let me turn you over to a great article written by Denise Minger of Raw Food SOS. She did an amazing job in analyzing the China Study and basically debunked every single aspect of it.

People need to stop believing the mainstream media, and need to start looking at the actual research and facts.

3) You don’t get to eat meat

I know this is a bit obvious, but being a vegetarian means that you don’t get to eat meat. EVER. That means no steak, bacon, horse, or BBQ ribs. The closest thing you’ll ever get to meat is some glued together crap made of wheat and soy.

And please, don’t tell me that your veggie burger tastes better than my double bacon cheeseburger, okay? Don’t tell me “Oh, but it tastes just like the real thing.” No it doesn’t, you rationalizing crazy person. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, a piece of tofu will never taste as good as a greasy piece of beef.

So if vegetarians are so concerned about their health, then why do they opt for highly processed foods likes breads and cereals that are not found in nature as opposed to real animal meat which has been around since…. forever. It makes no freakin sense.

4) Vegetarians are actually eating animals without knowing it!

This past summer, I took a Biology 101 class at a community college to fulfill some general education requirements for my degree. While the class was a complete waste of my time and I pretty much bull-shitted my way through it, I did learn something quite interesting.

I learned about the food web, which is basically description of “who eats who” in the environment.

It goes something like this:

fox eats rabbit => fox poops into the soil => the living soil then absorbs the poop(which includes the rabbit) => fruit and vegetable plants absorb that exact same soil to grow => humans eat those same fruits and vegetables

This process happens EVERYWHERE in nature.

So even if you’re a vegetarian, you’re technically eating dead animals, albeit in a more indirect liquid form. But last time I checked, vegetarians were all about saving lives no matter what.

Don’t be a vegetarian

Despite everything you’ve heard, vegetarians are NOT the health conscious animal saving saints that they’re made out to be.

Instead, vegetarians:

  • Support the destruction of ecosystems to obtain their food
  • Kill millions of small animals, bugs, and microorganisms
  • Aren’t saving their health since there’s absolutely zero scientific proof showing that meat is bad for you
  • Are actually eating meat without knowing it
  • Are simply misinformed about every aspect of the vegetarian lifestyle

So if you’re a vegetarian, then hopefully I’ve done my job to piss you off beyond belief, and if I converted you, then that’s cool too.

Once again, the only reason why you should be a vegetarian is for religious reasons or because you have a some chronic disease that doesn’t allow you to eat meat. But even if you’re a vegetarian for religious reasons, you might want to start questioning the logic behind your beliefs, just saying.

Alright guys, be sure to share this article with every single vegetarian you know, and to close out this article I have 3 parting words:

FUCK YOU PETA

  1. Texture!! That’s it! That’s all I’m saying. Andrew Zimmern on Bizzare foods hates oatmeal.. so don’t forget about vegetarians who don’t prefer meat because of texture.. I love pepperoni pizza.. but I pick the pepperoni off… it’s weird but I like the flavor. .. not the texture

  2. Sorry for long comment,
You claim that vegetarians kill more animals than meat eaters do because of the way their wheat is produced. This is true, and it’s something not many people talk about. Huge areas of forests are chopped down and replaced with one single crop. This can lead to the soil becoming poor and dry since no animals fertilize it and there no longer are any tree roots that preserve water in the earth. But I don’t think you understand that meat eaters kill more animals by deforestation than vegetarians do. The number of cows that are bred right now need a lot of space, and a lot of fodder. This fodder is not, what many might think, vegetables. It’s predominantly soy wich is mainly grown in the Amazonas, as are the cows in most cases. The rainforests there which are full of rare species that are found nowhere else are replaced with soy fields and cattle-room.
Often times the soil of these forests are very poor, except for the very top which is rich. When the animals are burned with the forests or just run off the soil, as I have mentioned above, runs poor due to a lack of natural fertilizers and tree roots. Under the thin layer of rich soil lay sand.
Many animal species (I don’t know the approximate number) go extinct because of this habitat loss every day.
Meat isn’t the only product that causes, though, I might not have addressed that. Basically, every crop that is responsible for deforestation is harmful to our planet.
Meat also requires more water than other vegetarian foods. That’s water that could be used for the poor that don’t have access to clean water. Red meat is not a sustainable food source for the future.

    1. Meat needs more water than crops. You are right. But it needs 1.5 lakh litres of water to manufacture a single car & factory waste is so bad for sea creatures. If your concern is water, then don’t use the car then. After all, veganism is bad for the environment than partial omnivores. just google it

    1. because veganism is not a diet. It is a religion based on faith & beliefs. You get money from donation & preaching the pseudoscience, like churches. I want to eat veg, go for it. Why are you preaching it to others? it feels like hundreds of people talking about Quran every day in social media

  3. Why should religious reasons be exempt? If something is stupid, it’s STUPID, period. Doing it in the name of God, Allah, Buddha, or transcendental enlightenment doesn’t make it any less dumb. Makes it worse, in fact– faith is not a “Get out of logic free” card.

    1. Please excuse your self from this page, clearly you have absolutely no respect for the lifestyle of others. If you don´t agree with something from a certain religion, that´s your opinion, but stepping outside your boundaries to insult religion is STUPID, IMMATURE, and IGNORANT.

  4. This made my day! I laughed out loud. I hope, for your sake, this is a joke. If it is not, i truly understand why you would thing that you arguments are legit but you are clearly seeing things from a very firm standpoint. Please hear me out!

    1. Eating meat requires more producing of crops. The energy loss when the grains are eaten by the animals so that we can eat their muscles is great. Therefore it is not; the ecosystems vs the cow. It is the ecosystems vs the cow + even more ecosystems that are destroyed.

    2. No, there are no scientific proofs that the vegetarian lifestyle is better for you. But there are many studies that points towards it. So if those kind of studies are the only scientific ground for a decision why should it be an argument agains eating less meat? Isn’t it logical to go in the direction science is pointing towards then the opposite way?

    3. First of, the human preference when it comes to taste is very adaptable and subjective. A vegetarian can truly think that a veggie-burger is tastier than meat. But even if meat taste better this is a very egoistic and small-minded argument.

    4. Of course the circle of life includes us all, regardless of our diets. Being vegetarian is about reducing the death of other living beings not eliminate it, because that is impossible.

When you tell other people to question their beliefs I think you should do that first yourself.

    1. I recommend you convince millions of people living in extreme cold conditions in Russia and other northern countries who are entirely dependent on meat to survive as there are no crop grows for good 9 moths of the year. After they are convinced, you can start supplying them years supply of fruits and vegetables.

      1. Yes I can absolutely see the extreme inconvenience in that. I don’t recommend everyone, no matter their circumstances, to stop eating animal products. Especially if you are dependent on it to survive! But this was not one of the arguments in the article. If it was I would not have questioned it. I was merely pointing out the illogicality in the arguments mentioned.

    2. SCIENCE POINTS THAT. IF we eat to much meat it can negatively impact our bodies. However science also proves one needs go through extraneous levels of effort to replace meat and meat byproduct nutrients. Essentially I argue. Your vegetarian or vegan diet is only statistically better than my meat based one health wise as a result of the amount of time and effort you spend in comparison to make your diet balanced. I can eat anything and get most of the nutrients I need. You have to watch and make sure you eat specific foods so your body can have the right amounts of protein and calcium. Therefore my diet is generically an overall healthier diet, as more humans are capable of eating an omnivorous based diet being healthy without putting much concern into what they eat. Where as a human with a herbivorous diet must put more time thought and effort into making sure they eat the right food. More or less what I tell most vegetarians and vegans. Your diet your choice. I get it some people don’t like or react well with meat therefor it makes them sick. However overall dont’ try to place this diet unto others or prove its healthier. As most humans will be effectively more healthy with the use of meat on a regular basis, because they will have a wider variety of ways to intake their nutrients

  5. brilliant, to the point, awesome-sauce…..
and,why are vegetarians so disrespectful twords plant (and fungal) life? why do you not think plants are as valuable as animals? hardcore prejudice there…do you not kill(murder) the innocent and humble radish as you violently tear it from its home?(the soil)….
why are plants so much ‘lower’ than animals in your view just because they don’t have a ‘brain’??? that is the same thing as racial socioeconomic bigotry. that is the same thing as Hitler and the Jews….same as the U.S.A. and native Americans…same as ‘negros’ to the bazck of the bus….f-vegetarians…They Are Nazis.
this is not humorous nor insincere. i mean it. think about it….

  6. Ha jokes on you,i’m a vegan not a vegetarian.
But in all reality this is full of bullcrap,iv’e seen many of these so simpletons don’t feel like the piece of crap they are.I didn’t read all of it because i already know from reading the few bits that this is bull. With the “You guys are killing plants!”(Even though they can’t feel pain but animals like humans can)it’s really dumb how people are.The people that are not vegan or vegetarians live 10 years less than the people who are and wastes years and years of water up to even decades because meat productions uses a lot of it.So all that time you wasted just got knocked down, because all around being a vegan or vegetarian is better than eating meat, don’t lie you know it!;)

  7. In some aspects i agree with him. Cutting meat completely out of human existence like every vegan or vegetarian are basically expecting, could hurt the economy, im toatally for animals not being treated as they are now but killing animals is simply in our dna like any other carnivorous or omnivorous animal. Just think what if everyone gave up meat. Our world would be overpopulated with not only human beings, but also a huge number of different species. hes also right about vegans and vegitarians arent as healthy as they make it out to be, there are just as many issues as there are benifits to being meat free and thats why its not proven to be healthier weather you eat meat or not, and for those of you who think plants do not feel. You are beyond wrong. They have pain just like fish do but they cant express how they feel because their biology doesnt alow them to flail around or scream like every other living being on this god given earth. Not eating meat is a lifestyle some people cant handle, and some of you savage vegatarians need to realize that becoming vegetarian or vegan is not as easy for some people as it was for you, not one human being on this earth is the same and can easily change like you did.

    1. Please: At least educate yourself before sharing your skewed thoughts. Human overpopulation is such huge contributor to the worlds meat consumption, that to not see or acknowledge it, makes anyone look like a complete fool, and your comment about the world becoming overpopulated with animals, is hilarious.

If the world wasn’t consuming meat at the rate it is, do you think humans would be breeding as many for food as they are now? And speaking of breeding, ask yourself why humans can’t seem to control the amount of offspring they shoot out all over the place, yet they take it upon themselves to decide how large a herd of anything should be, or how many wolves and bears are in the forest, and so on.

Vegans and vegetarians can most certainly make unhealthy eating choices as well, as more and more ‘brand name’ companies jump on board offering fast, quick, easy to make meal choices, no one is disputing that, but it is 100% proven that certain cancers are fully attributed to the consumption of meat, as well as coronary issues from the cholesterols, and who knows what else, with all the additives added to the meats.

And really, the ‘plants can feel too’ statement, is such a running joke now…can’t you come up with an original argument? Plant’s aren’t sentient…all animals are! The argument Einstein, is what’s ethical an humane, or did you miss that along the line somewhere? Aside from the food issue, as yourself why you need to sit or wear leather? Why do you need to use any product cruelly tested on animals, to make sure it’s safe for humans? Anyone can give up using animal products in anyway, but they first have to start thinking for themselves, as you clearly are not.
