Extreme Weight Loss (2022): How Much Weight Can You Lose In A Week?

how much weight can you lose in a week without eating

Important note: Please advise your doctor before following any plan. Don’t follow the advice below if you are under 18.

People always ask: How much weight can you lose in a week?” Well… to answer your question I have good news, awesome news, and bad news.

First onto the good news: YOU CAN LOSE A TON OF WEIGHT IN ONE WEEK

That’s right, you don’t have to be bound to the conventional wisdom of only losing 1 or 2 pounds a week. Extreme weight loss diets can definitely work, but only for a short period of time.

In fact, you can lose up to 15 pounds in one week if you do it correctly.

Now onto the awesome news: ALL THAT WEIGHT YOU LOSE WILL BE WATER AND FAT, NOT MUSCLE

Yup, you read that correctly, if you follow the methods at the end of this post, all the weight you lose during the week will be pure body fat. The conventional statement that losing more than 2 pounds per week leads to muscle, organ, and hair loss is absolute unicorn shit.

How do I know this? Because some awesome scientists from the American College Of Nutrition back in 1999, conducted a study, which tested 2 groups of people for 12 weeks.

One group only did traditional cardio, while the other group only did weight training. Both groups ate 800 calories a day. At the end of the study, both groups lost large amounts of weight, but the one that only did cardio lost large amounts of lean muscle mass, and the one that only did weight training didn’t lose any muscle mass at all.

So there you go, some hard hitting scientific facts that prove that you will not lose muscle during extreme dieting as long as you lift weights.

Note: And if you don’t have a gym membership or if you don’t have access to any weights, then doing a well-designed bodyweight program like Bodyweight Burn is your next best option.

And lastly, the bad news: YOU HAVE TO EAT VERY VERY LOW CALORIES

So yeah…. you have to eat a ridiculously low amount of calories to lose a lot of weight in a week. I’m talking along the lines of 800 calories a day.

The amount that would make any nutritionist hang themselves.

And now, onto the plan, but first, a picture of steaks:

I didn’t want to put a boring picture of a scale, so here’s some delicious steaks. I’m guessing this isn’t the best article to put this picture in

The 2-step plan to lose the maximum amount of weight in a week

Please note that the following plan can be used by both men and woman.

And don’t do this plan if you’re under 18, you’re way too young to be eating such low calories.

I guarantee that if you follow the plan below, you will lose 10-15 pounds(water and fat) in one week:

1) For one week only, eat 800 calories per day.

2) Workout 2-3 times per week with weights. Make sure the weights are heavy and be sure to hit all body parts.

That’s all.

Some notes/tips about the above 2 steps:

  • 800 calories is very little food, for any man, woman, or baby walrus. Because of this, I suggest that you only eat 1 meal per day a la Brad Pilon’s Eat Stop Eat. If you eat one 800 calorie meal per day, then you’ll at least feel somewhat satisfied, but if you split that up into 3 or even worse, 6 meals per day, then you’re not going to fare so well on this one week venture. Yes, this means that you will be fasting 24 hours every day for a whole week. Just remember, you will be burning fat, not muscle.
  • Whenever possible, eat higher protein and eat foods with high water content such as fruits and soups. Also, drink lots of coffee and green tea, since they both tend to blunt hunger quite well.
  • Stick with heavy compound exercises when in the gym. That means no curling and crunching, and if you even step foot on a treadmill, my dumbass radar will go off and I may have to kill you.
  • If you can’t lift weights, then your next best option is to do some sort of bodyweight training. You know…exercises like squats, push-ups, lunges, pull-ups, sit-ups, etc..
  • This is a mental game more than anything else. When you’re eating very few calories to lose weight faster, your mind starts playing tricks on you. Your stomach is gonna be grumbling more often. And there are gonna be times where you want nothing more than to self-sabotage yourself. Which is why the next point is so important.
  • Above all, keep yourself distracted and out of the kitchen. If you’re constantly prancing around the kitchen and thinking about food, you’re going to fail. So keep yourself busy. Read a book, play some video games, take a nap, work on your tan, or shave your pubes. I don’t care. Just do something that doesn’t involve food.
  • [EDIT 10/6/2014] I should also add that your protein intake needs to be HIGH. Like really high. In fact, the majority of your calories should probably come from protein, fruits, and veggies if you want this diet to be effective. The protein will help keep you full but more importantly also help maintain muscle.

Remember, this is only for one week

I just wanted remind you all, that this sort of extreme weight loss plan is only a temporary plan.

The results don’t have to be temporary, but the plan is. Please do not try and do this weight loss plan for more than a week.

Doing so is really going to mess with your head and you’ll most likely binge back to your original weight.

After one week, transition to a more moderate weight loss plan for the long haul.

I hope you guys now know how much weight you could lose in a week if went balls to the walls.

Want even better results? Take it to the next level with Fat Loss Boost

Many people have been asking me, “Can I do this for more than 7 days?”

Uh…

Yes and no.

Technically, you could eat 800 cals per day for a sustained period of time.

But sooner or later it’s gonna backfire on you.

If you want a more sustainable rapid fat loss plan…

Then I highly recommend checking out Fat Loss Boost.

This is a more long-term approach than the strategy I outlined in this blog post.

It’s a strategic rapid fat loss diet that works in 14 day cycles.

So you go hard on the diet for 14 days, lose a crap ton of weight, take a break, and repeat.

And the results from Fat Loss Boost are even better:

“I have been able to lose 10 pounds using this program. Starting weight 186. Weight this morning was 176.”

“I lost 12 lbs for my first attempt. Started at 201.7 and ended at 189.9. I am amazed!!! Thanks to everywhere for all the support and great hacks.”

“Ok people I’m done 😀. I hit 171.8 today, my goal was to break 172 on this round which was what I weighed almost ten years ago (lowest as an adult). That’s 30.2 lbs in just under 3 months.

Pretty crazy, right?

Definitely give it a look if you want a realistic, yet challenging plan that burns fat faster than anything. you ever tried before.

  1. Hi,
I am 5’2 and I weigh 130 pounds. I have a lot of belly fat and I want to be real skinny in two weeks. Like 100 pounds. If I do this for two weeks, do you think I can lose 30 pounds?

  2. Hi, I am starting this today. I want to target on my belly fat the most, so what weight training would you suggest I can add along to hitting all body parts? Thank you

    1. honestly just stick to the basics….

Push ups, bench press, pullups, rows, etc….You can’t target your belly fat. When you lose weight, your body will just shed the weight from all over.

  3. Hi
I’m 21 with a height of 5’1and weight of 120. Would like to be 100 because I have a lot of belly fat. Do you think Is safe to do this every other week ? How long do you think it would take to reach my goal?

  4. I am 6’3, 15, and 218 lbs. Can I l get down to near 200 lbs in a week? Is that really possible? If so please reply and tell me what is recommended other than what you wrote for the article.

  5. i am 13 5’3 and 170 pounds, i NEED to lose this weight and i have a slow metabolism and every time i try workouts it never works for me and i want to try this out tell me if its okay or not, i saw your comment on someone who was 15 and you said no to him/her/they/them. but i have depression and severe confidence anxiety. i need to lose it somehow please 🙁

    1. I understand he can’t personally recommend this to you, but me as a 13 year old does definitely recommend at least skipping breakfast and all snacks and dessert daily. Listen to silent weight lose subliminals as the messages in them can completely change your mindset to stop wanting to eat food. I used to be 193 pounds and lost 4 pounds in 3 days,(its a lot I know, but it’s mostly just out of my body’s shock and re-adjusting from my awful previous eating habits)and skipping breakfast along with not eating snacks and dessert can make you feel a lot happier than bad. It can lift guilt away from you, and you will eventually get used to not eating that much, and just love yourself for who you are. Intermediate fasting can be for anyone, and I think it’s perfect for young teens who can’t leave their parent’s household of unhealthy eating and don’t have the best personal discipline. I have done this sort of thing before, eating sparingly, when I was 9. The only reason I fell out of it was because my family pressured me to eat more like them. Trust me, as long as you stick to this for a month you will get used to it and you will feel full after only eating a few bites when you go to eat fast food. I know this is a lot but you need to know this. You are not alone, and you can do this. Chew slowly, stay occupied with video games or walking, just don’t eat until it’s lunch, dinner, or both of them depending on what you want to do. I wish you the best, truly.

  6. I AM 72 YRS OLD WEIGH 163 IBS, GETTING SURGERY IN 25 DAYS WHICH WILL LEAVE ME IMMOBLE FOR 1 TO 2 WEEKS SO WANT TO GET DOWN TO 150 LBS BEFORE SURGERY SO WILL NOT GAIN THE WEIGHT I LOST BACK WHILE IMMOBLE WILL THIS DIET WORK FOR ME IF DO BURN 800 CALORIES A DAY

  7. Hi I’m 20. 5’5″ I weight 120 and if I do this one week on and one week off (eating 1200 calories on the off weeks) would I keep loosing weight or would it kinda bounce the scale up and down?

  8. I don’t belong to a gym and because of this stupid virus, wouldn’t be able to go anyway but I do have a stationary bike, trampoline, 5 lb weights and a lot of resistance bands. Would all this work to lose weight? I want to lose 107 pounds. Can you help me? I was on Atkins but went off the rails a few times.

      1. I wanted to know if using the bike, trampoline and the resistance bands would be good enough to exercise my whole body. And how should I approach this diet? Should I do one week on and what week off? And during the week off, what should I consume….as far as calories, etc. Another question I had, is it o.k. to use Sweet N Low?

Thank you for your help and in getting back to me.

        1. if you need to lose over 100 pounds, starting with anything is fine. Do not look for quick fixes. Chances are you have a lot of bad long-term habits that you need to start breaking down, so don’t think this diet is a quick fix. Look at where you can start making big changes in your life. For example, if you’re drinking 6 cans of soda per day, cut it down to 4…then 3…then 2. Calories are important, but your overall lifestyle habits are 10x more important.

          1. Thank you. I definitely have bad long-term eating habits and I am a sugar addict and a binge eater. When I’m eating healthy and doing well on my plan, I am awesome at it….BUT….when I’m not….I am the worst eater. I need to find something that can help me with my addictions. I just don’t know how to stay on my eating plan without going off the rails. I was down to 166 and only had 26 more pounds to go and then I was stressed out with different operations and health issues, now it’s so difficult to get back on track and STAY there.

  9. I’m 43, M, have a gut for the first time in my life. Probably around ~170lb. The only thing i have problem with is weight training; i basically just have a pull up bar and two 25 lb dumb bells. Should I refrain from running and just do weights, or do both (weights and running) for a week on a restricted, high protein diet? I’d like to at least reduce the gut somewhat before Christmas.

  10. What about water? It’s important for body. I try to drink 120 ounces of water a day.
Can I still drink this much water on this program?

  11. Good evening,

I have a few questions regarding the program.

    1) What about water? It’s important for our bodies. I try to drink 120 ounces of water a day. Can I still drink this much of water on this program?
2)What is the basic recommendation for lifting weights? (I love cardio but not weights). Specially, time and duration on each each set? Can I Do circuit training with weights?
3)The plan mentions working out two to three times is that strictly weights and no cardio? How long for the workouts?

    Thank you for your time,

    1. 1. drink as much water as you want.
      2. Ideally pick a weight that’s challenging that you can lift for 6-8 reps.
      3. Typically 30-60 min depending on the workout.

  12. How much protein do you suggest you eat a day? Is 28grams of protein enough a day on this diet. I think that’s equal to a chicken drumstick and the rest fruit and carbs i.e jacket potatoe etc.

  13. Hi! I’m 5’ weighing 110 pounds. Do you think if I fasted and had nothing but water for 2 weeks I would get down to 98 pounds?

    1. maybe. But you will wreck your body, mind, and spirit in the process and never learn to develop the long term skills needed to sustainably keep weight loss.
