4 Reasons Why Becoming A Vegetarian Is A Fucking Stupid Idea

October 5, 2014 | 1674 Comments

Note: This post is not meant to target those who are vegetarians for religious reasons or those who are vegetarians because they have some chronic disease that doesn’t allow them to eat meat. Instead, I’m targeting every single idiot out there who is a vegetarian for reasons like animal cruelty and health benefits.

Edit 9/10/14: Alright time to clear some air here. I started FitMole back in June 2011 and wrote this article in Aug 2011. Back when I started the blog I was trying to discover the best way to generate more traffic. So I thought to myself, “what’s the best way to get people talking?” So I came up with this article and the slightly edgy, and some might even call immature headline. And yes, I know the article can be seen as a bit offensive and ignorant. I still stand by my claims 100% that going vegetarian isn’t healthier than eating meat, but I do take full responsibility for some of the slightly ignorant comments I’ve made about animal cruelty. Other than that, can the person who keeps sending me death threat emails stop now 🙂

First off I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I normally don’t swear in the post title, but I just have to emphasize how stupid it is to become a vegetarian. It’s stupid, ridiculous, unnecessary, stupid, and did I mention it’s FUCKING stupid.

I have a couple of friends and family members that are vegetarians, and don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them. I just can’t understand why they decided to follow this lifestyle.

When I ask them why they decided to become a vegetarian, they give me reasons like “Oh, it makes me feel good,” “Because meat is bad for your health,” or “I don’t want to harm animals.” Whenever I hear these reasons, I just put on my best “nod and pretend to agree with you” face.

So why is becoming a vegetarian stupid? Lets take a look:

1) You aren’t saving the lives of animals

I get it. You don’t like it when the heads of baby cows and pigs are chopped off, but do you really think eating that tofu burger is saving lives.

Fruits, vegetables, and grains are a staple among vegetarian diets, but did you know that millions of animals die just so you can enjoy that piece of bread? Eating foods like grains means destroying ecosystems and all of its inhabitants. It means killing all the little animals, birds, bugs, and microorganisms that live among the fields.

Do you know how many little animals and microorganisms die when farmers use machines to plow through wheat fields? The answer is a lot more than 1 cow.

As cheesy as it sounds, everything in life requires sacrifice. Animals are killed to get meat and ecosystems are destroyed to get grains. So the next time I’m eating a steak, don’t you dare judge me for killing a cow.

2) There is absolutely zero scientific proof showing that going vegetarian is healthy

When I want to believe something, I need proof. I need definite scientific proof.

And no, proof doesn’t mean reading a quote in Shape or MensHealth magazine. In order to convince me about anything I need to see a scientific study that shows causation not correlation.

For example, eating less food will make you loss weight.  This is a stone cold fact that will remain true no matter what.

However, there is absolutely ZERO proof showing that going vegetarian will decrease your risk of heart disease, cancer, or whatever nasty stuff you can think of.

The only thing we have are thousands of studies showing a correlation between an increased risk of disease and an increase in meat consumption. We have studies that conclude that eating meat “may increase” your risk of heart disease, but this doesn’t mean crap. It’s inconclusive and doesn’t prove anything. Saying that your risk of heart disease “may increase” from eating red meat is like saying you “may” be able to breath fire if you eat enough jalapenos.

And yes, before you get all crazy on me, I have read the China Study a.k.a the vegetarian’s wet dream. For those who don’t know, the China Study was a big study conducted by Dr. Campbell who basically concluded that meat is killer.

While the China Study garnered a ton of media attention a couple years ago, it is also an incredibly flawed study despite it’s massive scale. But talking about all the flaws in the China Study is beyond the scope of this article, so let me turn you over to a great article written by Denise Minger of Raw Food SOS. She did an amazing job in analyzing the China Study and basically debunked every single aspect of it.

People need to stop believing the mainstream media, and need to start looking at the actual research and facts.

3) You don’t get to eat meat

I know this is a bit obvious, but being a vegetarian means that you don’t get to eat meat. EVER. That means no steak, bacon, horse, or BBQ ribs. The closest thing you’ll ever get to meat is some glued together crap made of wheat and soy.

And please, don’t tell me that your veggie burger tastes better than my double bacon cheeseburger, okay? Don’t tell me “Oh, but it tastes just like the real thing.” No it doesn’t, you rationalizing crazy person. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, a piece of tofu will never taste as good as a greasy piece of beef.

So if vegetarians are so concerned about their health, then why do they opt for highly processed foods likes breads and cereals that are not found in nature as opposed to real animal meat which has been around since…. forever. It makes no freakin sense.

4) Vegetarians are actually eating animals without knowing it!

This past summer, I took a Biology 101 class at a community college to fulfill some general education requirements for my degree. While the class was a complete waste of my time and I pretty much bull-shitted my way through it, I did learn something quite interesting.

I learned about the food web, which is basically description of “who eats who” in the environment.

It goes something like this:

fox eats rabbit => fox poops into the soil => the living soil then absorbs the poop(which includes the rabbit) => fruit and vegetable plants absorb that exact same soil to grow => humans eat those same fruits and vegetables

This process happens EVERYWHERE in nature.

So even if you’re a vegetarian, you’re technically eating dead animals, albeit in a more indirect liquid form. But last time I checked, vegetarians were all about saving lives no matter what.

Don’t be a vegetarian

Despite everything you’ve heard, vegetarians are NOT the health conscious animal saving saints that they’re made out to be.

Instead, vegetarians:

  • Support the destruction of ecosystems to obtain their food
  • Kill millions of small animals, bugs, and microorganisms
  • Aren’t saving their health since there’s absolutely zero scientific proof showing that meat is bad for you
  • Are actually eating meat without knowing it
  • Are simply misinformed about every aspect of the vegetarian lifestyle

So if you’re a vegetarian, then hopefully I’ve done my job to piss you off beyond belief, and if I converted you, then that’s cool too.

Once again, the only reason why you should be a vegetarian is for religious reasons or because you have a some chronic disease that doesn’t allow you to eat meat. But even if you’re a vegetarian for religious reasons, you might want to start questioning the logic behind your beliefs, just saying.

Alright guys, be sure to share this article with every single vegetarian you know, and to close out this article I have 3 parting words:

FUCK YOU PETA

  1. fuck you. you can’t just judge people for their diet and/or religion! each of us has our values and as a vegan myself, you should to respect other peoples values as much as you respect other people. fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.fuck you.

    1. LOL! Vegan’s are dry ass, boring people who look for problems in every fucking inch of their (as well as others’) lives. If you’re that bothered about animal treatment, the environment and living healthily, then you should become self-sustained, grow/raise your own food so that you can 100% vouch that it’s ethical, shower in rain water that you’ve collected and purified yourself, stop using anything plastic, or, alternatively, get over yourself and do what nature gave you insisors for. Creep.

      1. Why stop using all plastic? It’s a fantastic and versatile material. I assume you mean single use plastic, which gets into the food chain? Halfwit.

    2. I haven’t looked into your bs vegan stuff but I know you people like to say you’re saving cows and what not. Let’s say for some magical ass reason that the world goes vegan. Then what for the cows? Keep them as pets? No one would want them so they would slowly die off if not just killed. You want livestock just walking up and down the roads living a care free life in a community, let’s see how that goes. Honestly doesn’t take that much thinking to say vegans are dumb.

  2. “millions of animals die just so you can enjoy that piece of bread”

Here’s the thing: every problem you bring up related to growing plants is multiplied by several times by using livestock for food. What do you think we feed them? Crops. In fact, most of the soy grown in the world is fed to livestock. When you eat meat, you are essentially using animals as machines to transform whatever they are fed into the flesh that is sold to you. And like any machine, this process is inherently inefficient, you have to feed so much to livestock compared to what you get back when you kill them. By the way, the soybeans you mentioned? 70% of soy grown in the world is fed to livestock. Feed crops and livestock grazing account for more than 80% of deforestation worldwide, including the > 1 acre per second of rainforest destruction we see today. Every environmental problem caused by growing crops is multiplied several times when you feed those crops to an animal and then kill the animal, and if everyone were to go vegan we would actually have to use far less land, water, and fertilizer for farming. https://www.onegreenplanet.org/animalsandnature/this-is-how-animal-agriculture-causes-deforestation/

    1. Animals are fed waste products that are inedible to humans. The edible products that they are fed are rejected from supermarkets for being too unsightly even for their “not perfect” ranges, even for farm shops and the other places not perfect products end up – carrots split into 4 by the harvester and dried out, grains with harmless edible But unsightly mould on them etc. So, no. There would be no decrease in agriculture if the whole world went vegan, in reality there would be incalculable increase, because now we have to grow those crops without ground up animal fertilisers. And many more ecosystems would be devastated, potable water supplies would be spread ever thinner (yes I know you’ve got a water stat up your sleeve, but I also know it counts both rain and potable water – while pasture land uses almost exclusively rain water and arable land uses almost exclusively potable water, thanks to pharmaceutical fertilisers making rain water just wash off the surface)

    2. Ah, a rational thought! Thank you, Michael. It’s quite annoying to see someone trying to claim that veganism is destroying the environment when animal agriculture not only causes its own direct destruction but much more by requiring an insane amount of plant agriculture to feed the animals

  3. Youre the typical vegan but meat eater version. Anyway here are MY reasons for being vegitarian (I need dairy ect for health reasons):
-over 60% of the amazon rainforest being destroyed is from pasture! So not only is it killing cows (im not pushy but if you try to force me to eat meat, imma be the most annoying ass vegitarian ever) but it also kills endangered species such as orangatans. In rainforests there are cures to many illnesses, PEOPLE LIVING IN THEM, AND CURES TO FUCKING CANCER IN THEM. AND THEY ARE ALL GONE. THANKS TO DEFORESTATION (ik its not all cattle ranching but most is)
-the people who actually kill the animals in the slaughter houses are treated like shit and poorly payed. All the killing they do often leads to ptsd and serious consequences.
-the idea of meat makes ME uncomfy.
-(for fish) yes, fish is REALLY good for You, i know. But in this day and age the ocean is full of plastic and toxic chemicals and ive researched this before for fun- ik im weird fkdkdk- and the chemicals in fish pass to us. Also salmom farms are full of yummy heavy metals. And a lot of methods for fishing kill dolpjins, sharks, whales, turtles- you get the point. Oh and bottom trawling! Which destoeys coral reefs!
-ever since i stopped eating meat ive felt more healthy myself. I have more energy and feel strong. That may just be me but its nice.
Also even if I WANTED to go back to meat my family would never let me do anything “spontantious” again and say they “knew I wasnt a real veggie” (Ive been veggie for 1 1/2 years)
You didnt piss me off or convert me. You just triggered my anxiety and caused a panic attack ✨✨

    1. Btw it would take a lot more and I mean a lot more space to feed a entire world of vegans everywhere would have to have crop fields and guess what there’s a lot of places on earth where you can’t grow certain types of crops, unless we start building floating islands on the ocean to grow plants and I don’t have to take shots so I can stay healthy with all the vitamins I’m missing out on I’m not becoming a vegan and I don’t know why anyone would

      1. Hunter, this is incorrect. Most of the world’s plant agriculture goes toward feeding livestock. Think about it: huge livestock animals have much greater nutritional needs than we do. Cows alone consume the same amount of plants as humans worldwide. Add in turkeys, chickens, pigs nearly as big as cows, and other animals eaten around the world, and there are a lot of animals that need to be fed before we can eat them. The number of animals killed for food every three days is equivalent to the number of humans killed in war in all of recorded history. If we stopped eating meat, we would eliminate animal agriculture and drastically reduce plant agriculture as well.

  4. the production of meat consumes so much water, land, and releases copious amounts of greenhouse gases. Hunting is fine with me, its the farming that is cruel, and if you think that cruelty just means death, you are wrong. Millions of animals live horribly unthinkable lives that you wouldnt wish upon your worst enemy, being pumped with hormones, crowded into tiny spaces, and treated with 0 respect. The only way people can tolerate torturing another being is when they dont have a voice, this is why oppression exists. Imagine if a cow or a chicken could scream like a human, and in english say “OW, Please stop! That hurts, I’m in so much pain, please just stop”. Would you be “tough” enough to support companies that hurt them then? Probably not, but you have no problem doing it now simply because it’s easy to turn a blind eye to someone you cant see or hear. Youre just weakminded, ignorant and truly blind. Before you tell me “Fuck you”, do a little research and don’t just go for the easily debunkable points. I don’t attack people who eat meat even though i think it’s ignorant asf, but youre the type of person that i have no problem educating.

  5. Ok, this article is complete bullshit. First off, you start the article by saying how vegetarians aren’t saving animals by not eating meat. This is completely and absolutely ridiculous. If you did the research, you’d find out that the average meat eater eats about 7,000 animals in their lifetime. Second, the it’s not like we eat a random forest. The crops are grown in a field of a farmer. If any animals are harmed, it would be the farmer that killed them and the animal that didn’t get out of the tractor’s way. Plus, farmers typically use cow or horse manure, and those animals are also vegetarian. I didn’t read the health section because it doesn’t apply to me, but I wouldn’t be very surprised if your facts checked out there. Not to mention, the statement Fuck you PETA doesn’t even follow proper grammer guidelines, since there is no subject and it’s missing a comma. I just decided to throw that one in there. But, to be fair, I did find this article quite hilarious.

  6. i’m not vegan or vegetarian but this article is complete bs. it is impossible to not consume any animal products due to the natural cycle of life but that is not an issue, it doesn’t make a difference. saving the lives of animals is, to me personally, the weakest argument for veganism. it ain’t about that it’s about the effect on the environment with the amount of landmass and pollution raising farm animals takes which affects every single sustainability issue we face. where do you think all these farms to
raise the animals go? not to mention the space andresources like water required to feed the things. watch cowspiracy for more details (yes, it is biased! but the actual statistics it provides are non-debatable). it’s not a question if being vegan is more healthy, because we know we can live a healthy lifestyle on such a diet and at the end of the day that’s all that matters. yeah not eating meat or animal products sucks, I’m well aware and that’s the real hardest issue. it is very much possible for us to all be vegan but the agriculture industry (specifically animal husbandry) has a huge political power which is why you don’t see these “environment organisations” talking about it, at the end of the day they are a business and will be influenced (and particular people killed) by these powers. i could easily rebuttle each and every point in this article but lets be honest, no one cares. i am planning to go vegan, it wont happen straight away but small changes over time it all it takes. We will always have a need for animal products in order to feed out pets that CAN’T live off a vegan diet, unlike ourselves. but we can make a huge difference to the rapid decay of the planet by simply dramatically reducing our meat intake, something we can do but just kinda don’t wanna. we are all acting like spoilt children crying in a store wanting a toy we don’t need, except in this case the toy itself is terrible unless you also get a bunch of attachments to go with it. ever tired plain, unseasoned chicken? it sucks. most meats without some sort of seasoning (even if its just salt and pepper) is pretty lame. you can add things onto vegan foods to make it taste just as good these days so we don’t really have an excuse anymore. all it means is we have to stop being lazy, spoilt brats and put in that bit of effort to make a big enough change to everything. stop trying to pretend we’re not the problem, vegans are factually in the right but things like PETA and all the shame for eating meat isn’t helpful. the facts are important, not our feelings.

  7. Its amazing how many salty vegans there are on this website, doesn’t matter if he provided good reasons and facts or not cause any sensible human being that doesnt live their life based on pure emotional reasoning could look at the proof. All plant diet will ruin cause huge amounts of erosion and will ruin this planet, it will put thousands of acres of land to no use and we will have to throw away lots of un edible products to us. Not to mention how being vegan will absolutely destroy your body if you don’t have a perfect diet and take vitamin supplements because some vitamins can only be received from meat. Ntm just cause it works for some people doesn’t mean it does for all, some and most people surprise surprise need to be omnivores to survive due to the way they process food and the nutrients there body requires. Peskitarians are technically the healthiest diet. So stop using bs logic and look at the facts. P.S. if you feed ur dog a vegan diet thats animal abuse wich is a federal crime.

  8. (This does not apply if its just your religion) Technically, vegetarians say that there is enough food already so they don’t need to eat meat. That is wrong in every way. Let’s say a chicken has been killed for food, and you are eating with vegetarians. The animal is already dead, so you can eat it, and just not eating it IS WASTING THE FOOD AND IS MAKING THE ANIMALS DEATH IN VAIN. Yes, there are meat-eaters out there who eat the chicken but you NOT eating the chicken just sitting there is kinda disrespecting the chicken, who died SO YOU CAN EAT. I also feel that there is absolutely no way you can avoid eating living things. If you eat veggies, you are killing the vegetables, which is VERY much killing a living thing. You say you have feeling for animals then what about plants? Thats why I think if you should just eat both and be happy. By becoming vegetarian you aren’t helping, you’re just not eating the animals who died for your diet. I just swallowed a gulp of air. That also means I just swallowed a bunch of organisms and other things (vegetarians and other people all breath or swallow air). The way to actually help is to protect wildlife and STOP unnecessary killing, that’s the only way to help, not becoming a vegetarian. Plus, if everyone converted to vegetarian, the food chain would destabilize, dooming the whole damn earth.

    1. Fun fact: microorganisms and plants don’t have brains, therefore they are not conscious! Shocking right? Listen, vegetarianism/veganism isn’t about avoiding eating life, it’s about minimizing the death of sentient life. Another fun fact: demand determines supply! By not buying chicken, you are lowering demand, therefore in the long run lowering future slaughter. And as for your whole spiel about the food chain, I don’t even know how to begin to address everything wrong with that. We breed these animals into existence. If we stop doing that numbers will stabilize within a generation. We will no longer use land for animal agriculture and use considerably less land for plant agriculture, as most of it goes toward feeding livestock, allowing nature to flourish again in areas that we previously desecrated.

    1. Doesn’t really correlate. Can you show me how being vegetarian/vegan means you’re brainwashed? You ape, stfu and keep eating meat.

  9. Worst article I’ve ever read. You should know how cows, chicken, pigs and other animals are fed when you talk about “destroying” the ecosystem for vegan/vegetarian food. 80% of farmland is used to feed animals, yet they only provide 18% of our calorie intake. So it saves a lot of lives.
2: There’s lots of scientifically data that backs up being a vegan is healthy (not talking about a vegetarian diet) and can decrease your chances of getting cancer, heart diseases or diabetes.
    3: I don’t know what’s wrong with vegan burger?
    4 is just utterly ridiculous.

If you think about it, it should be pretty obvious by now. Every ounce of food on this planet is produced by plants. Protein, carbs and fat all comes from plants, as they’re the only ones capable of producing them. Why do we need someone who acts as a middleman for our food?

      1. Vegans iQ. A person who didn’t past a kindergarten doesn’t even have anything to do at this article. At all. You just a ignorant son of a bitch who don’t respect others beliefs. You just an ignorant dumb fuck. Poor basterd.

  10. You are fucking out of your mind. Fuck yourself and your stupid meat eating reasons.

that’s the answer you were looking for your whole fuckmole shit to setup this blog.
