5 Reasons Why You’ll Never Look Like A Hollywood Celebrity

Hollywood workout

Does this sound familiar:

1) A new movie comes out, let’s go back in time and say 300 starring Gerard Butler.

2) Men feel like crap about their bodies and feel the need to step up their game to be ripped and muscular.

3) They head home, go online and search phrases like “300 workout,” “Gerard Butler diet,” “How to get 300 body,” “Why does my life suck and how can I become a sexy Spartan warrior,” etc…

4) They give the so-called “300 workout” a shot with hopes of getting their dream body.

5) They most likely fail and gives up a few weeks later since their physique doesn’t match that of the 300 actors.

Sound familiar?

Don’t lie, I’ve done that with almost every movie featuring a shirtless actor or actress sporting a decent physique. It’s just habit. I’ve been doing it since Blade 3 when Ryan Reynolds showcased his now coveted physique.

But here’s what people don’t understand: you are NEVER going to look like Gerard Butler, Ryan Reynolds, Megan Fox, Jessica Biel or any celebrity for that matter.

There are just too many variables to account for when trying to get the physique of an A-list celebrity, such as…

1) Celebrities are richer than you

Celebrities are fucking rich.

Some make more money from one movie than some people make in their entire lifetime. It’s fucking ridiculous.

And with their massive wealth, celebrities have access to state-of-the-art gyms, personal chefs, massage therapists, and other resources that you most likely just can’t afford.

While these extra resources are nothing magical, they do give celebrities more freedom, less stress, and time to allow them to have a laser-like focus on their goals.

Am I saying that you need to be filthy rich to achieve a great body? Absolutely not, but there’s no denying that it does make some of the work easier.

2) You aren’t as motivated as them

In a sense, celebrities are paid to look hot.

Would men have watched Into The Blue if it didn’t feature Jessica Alba in a bikini 80% of the time? Would women have watched Crazy Stupid Love, if it featured a fat sweaty slob instead of a shirtless Ryan Gosling?

Sure…maybe…I mean um…okay probably not.

If a celebrity is told that he or she has to appear topless or naked in a film, then you can bet your ass that they are going to look absolutely phenomenal.

If I knew I was going to appear shirtless in front of millions of people, then I’m going to make it my life’s work to look as good as humanly possible. And oh yeah, those multi-million dollar pay checks don’t hurt either.

3) Professional lighting and fake tans

This is a big one.

You may not realize it, but a lot of the lighting you see in movies is fake. Everything is adjusted so that the environment and the actors in it look as good as possible. Plus, they have use ridiculously high-quality cameras.

This makes the final cut of the movie look better, but in a way, it also deceives the viewer.

Under the right lighting (particularly overhead lighting), your body can look much better than it actually is. Give it a shot – shine an overhead light over your body and I guarantee you’ll notice an immediate improvement in the way your body looks.

Your muscles look more defined than they actually thus creating the illusion that you’re at a lower body fat percentage when you’re really not.

There’s just no way that movie executives are going to let teen heartthrobs like Taylor Lautner come out with a farmer’s tan. It’s unattractive and it turns paying customers off.

So by applying a tan on the actor, not only does the actor have an aesthetically pleasing skin tone, but he will also look more muscular and defined.

This is exactly why pro-bodybuilders and figure competitors all have fake tans – because it brings out the the definition in their muscles.

Look at that perfect lighting.

4) Celebrities are druggies (well at least some of them)

And no, I’m not talking about the fun powdery white stuff either.

I’m talking about drugs like steroids and HGH.

How else do do you think 60 year old dudes like Sylvester Stallone and Hulk Hogan stay so muscular?

Well…it’s definitely not because they’re quadruple setting their workouts. Now I’m not saying every single Hollywood celebrity uses HGH, but it’s just something you have to take into consideration.

Like Rusty Moore of FitnessBlackBook said in this post, be suspicious of celebrities who have seemingly instant body transformations. Most of the time, drugs are involved.

5) You don’t know them (the most important one)

Ok I get it, you want to look like Ryan Reynolds but do you personally know what he does outside the gym and in his personal life? And no, paparazzi shots and videos don’t count.

Do you know how many hours of sleep he gets per day? Do you know the exact foods he eats day in and day out? Do you know what his maintenance calories are? Do you know his training history? Do you know his pre and post-workout supplements? Do you know if he’s taking any drugs?

Exactly, so unless you’re his mom, then you really don’t know crap about Ryan Reynolds or any Hollywood celebrity for that matter.

There’s a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes in the world of Hollywood that doesn’t get talked about. So unless you know a Hollywood celebrity on a deep personal level, then you should always take the things they say with a gain of salt.

So who can I look like?

Now that I’ve hopefully convinced you that you can’t look like a Hollywood celebrity, you might be wondering “who can I look like?”

Here it is: You can look like the absolute best version of yourself and no one else.

That’s it.

Don’t compare yourself to Ryan Reynolds or Megan Fox.

It’s pointless, energy draining, and you’ll never look like them nor should you want to.

The only person you should be comparing yourself to is the old version of yourself.

Once you get your dream body, you should only compare yourself to old pictures, videos, and memories, because that’s the only thing that matters.

Become a better you, not an “almost as good as Ryan Reynolds.”

The only thing that Hollywood celebrities are good for:

Motivation.

That’s it.

People get super motivated by hot Hollywood actors and actresses and that’s awesome. It’s the reason why I”ll occasionally write a celebrity workout article – because people get motivated by that shit.

Having a Hollywood celebrity that motivates and inspires you to take action is great, as long as you accept the fact that will never look exactly like him or her.

You can use their workouts and diet plans as a foundation, but don’t believe that it will transform you into a carbon copy of them. Genetics simply play too big of a role for any two bodies to look the same,

Closing thoughts

  • Don’t try to look like a Hollywood celebrity. Try to look like the best possible version of yourself.
  • Don’t believe everything you see and read. The amazing bodies you see on screen are often manipulated by professional lighting, special effects, etc…
  • It’s okay to read and follow a Hollywood celebrity’s workout and diet program, just don’t expect to look exactly like them in the end. Yes I’ve written a number of sample routines for popular actors like Ryan Gosling, Dwayne Johnson, and Daniel Craig. In no way are these the exact routines they followed, but instead more realistic workouts for the everyday man to do. The actual workouts the actors did are simply too excessive and unrealistic for the average man or woman.
  • Train hard, eat right, and you’ll look better than any Hollywood celebrity out there. I promise.

What’s your take on getting a “Hollywood” body? Let me know in the comments.

  1. “Celebrities are richer than you” haha.

This definitely helps. The financial investment it takes to implement the most ideal nutrition plans and supplements can definitely get quite high in costs depending on your goals and income level.

I’ve known guys who spend $300 a week on food and natural supplements, although their goals are more about gaining natural (and even unnatural) pro level bodybuilder levels of mass.

I agree that your goal should be to develop the best version of yourself possible, and if people were to follow this train of thought, they would probably be quite surprised at how great they would look!

  2. Super dead-on, Keith. One of the interesting things most people don’t seem to realize is celebs will take 2-3 months just to prepare of a 1-2 minute scene that requires them to take off their shirt. That’s a huge advantage. The average person has no idea when they’re going to be faced with that kind of situation…unless it’s for a planned vacation. But, also, the average person isn’t going to have a team of people getting them is great shape.

I know it’s easy to get caught up in thinking we’ve got to try and play catch up to look like a hot movie star. However, in reality, actors don’t even really look like that, or don’t look like that for much longer than the length of the scene.

    1. Thanks Mitchell. Having a powerful deadline like getting in shape for a vacation lime you said is an extremely powerful motivator. And in a celebrity’s case, getting ready to be naked in front of millions of people insanely powerful.

  3. You are correct but the biggest point you made is drugs. Its all drugs!! I would venture to say 95 percent is drugs. I have seen people change in about 3 months with that legal juicing term HRT!

  4. I heard it once said that ‘excuses are for arse holes’.

If you’ve got a half decent set of genetics of course you can get a celebrity body.

    Just do the work.

  5. Yeah, these are all just excuses for why you can continue being a fat, lazy pig. Go on YouTube and look up some of the people who aren’t celebrities and who aren’t professional body builders. There are tons of normal people who are ripped and healthy. But go on, keep making excuses for why you’re an ugly slob while people who actually want to look good continue working out and eating healthy because people like you don’t deserve a good looking body anyway.

  6. Lol this post is such B.S. I’m sorry. Don’t eat like a pig, exercise 6 days a week, strength training and cardio boom the body of your dreams. It’s not rocket science, just quit making excuses and hit the gym. This site is for fatties anyways.

      1. Johnny is SO off the mark here. I think he simply chose to COMPLETELY ignore the points you made in your article. Maybe he hit the lotto. Or maybe he lives in his mom’a basement. Here in the real world, committments and responsibilities can severely reduce the opportunity to hit the gym “6 days a week”. And obviously Johnny is one of the “fatties’ he so charmingly speaks of, as he is on this site himself.

    1. You must not have a job or kids. I don’t think he was makingexcuses. But when you get up the first thing you do is get ready for work ( assuming you have a job) . When famous people get up unless they have a jig, their only responsibility is to look good. Their life counts on it. It’s the only way they can keep their career going. Looking good is not a factor for the desk job person or the thrid shift guy. Yes, we can still work out hard, but our normal jobs, and the way we make money has nothing to do with how we look.

If you gain ten pounds no one will care but you. Your job isn’t going to call you and say ” hey man, you look a little big today.” Also famous people employ a lot of people. They have a huge group of people that making money off of you. If a famous person gets fat, they get no roles, they get no money. Normal people don’t have this pressure.

The blogger is not saying normal people shouldn’t workout. What he is saying is when you livelyhood is base on your looks even over you acting, you’re going to do whatever it takes to stay thin and so is everyone around you because they also want to keep their jobs.

  7. Keith,

I know I am late but allow me to say that it’s a good post. I can see that few people have misinterpreted your thoughts but that’s okay (hey, not everyone understands). I enjoyed reading it.

There is one thing though: “you should always take the things they say with a “”gain of salt””.” It should be grain of salt. You might want to fix that. I am sure it’s just a typo.

Again, I liked the post and took few important points from here. And sorry for being a language Nazi.

  8. Hi, i’m french so i dont really understand What is “BS”..
but I can tell you that whole m’y life i’ve trusted that everyone belived in an Hollywood shape..
You know What? I think that you right in this post. Let Them talk, i realy appreciate the way you open our eyes on a True vision. It is time to understand that the most beautiful body is the one we’ve worked for..
Congratulation and thanks for the cheers at the end.

  9. You forget about to mention the nannies to take care of the kids while the famous mom is working out for two hours a day.

  10. Probably a third of the bodybuilding dot com forum members are more muscular define than the celebrities mentioned above. If you do a little bit of serious research and have a lot of discipline (especially in your diet) it’s not all that hard to get the Hollywood body look.

Of course, as the article points one, most people aren’t as motivated as the actors and actresses, and that’s perfectly fine – one may have other priorities in life and most are more important than looking good. But I don’t think looking ripped is as far-fetched a dream as many would profess.

    1. Well it’s not “hard” for the people on those forums, which isn’t a fair representation of the whole population since that’s a super concentrated website filled with nothing but people who want to get as big as humanly possible.

When you look at the general population as a whole, most guys have zero desire to get bodybuilder huge.

      1. I want to do that, yeah. Not to defy you, but to comeback and tell you how much your site has helpe me clear the way in a sea of BS fitness advice. If it weren’t for your site, I’d still be stuck with the “I’m skinny, why don’t I have abs (despite doing 100 crunches every day)!?”.
